MOSS POINT — The Moss Point High baseball team is off to its best start to a season in four years.
And, perhaps more importantly, the same can be said for the Rigers in region play as well.
Moss Point stands 7-7 overall as it heads into the second week of Region 8-4A action, as the Tigers host Bay High Tuesday night to open a three game series. Head coach Julius Bridges and his team won their first league game since the 2022 season last week, with a 1-0 decision on the road over Pass Christian in the region-opener for both teams.

A pair of Tiger pitchers in eighth-grader Orlando Esmurria and veteran Alden Evans combined on a four-hit shutout of the Pirates, with Esmurria working four solid stanzas to earn the win and Evans finishing off the final three frames to earn the save.
Esmurria also scored the only run of the game when he came home on a sacrifice squeeze bunt by Marcus Boyd.
Moss Point managed just three hits off of Pirate starting pitcher Kayleb Munsch, who went the distance and took the tough luck loss.

Pass bounced back to take the final two games of the series, with a 13-3 win in game two and a close 3-2 decision in the rubber match Saturday.
Stephen Tinsley had a game-high three hits to pace the Pirates in game two, while Willie Hurd had two hits for MPHS.
In game three, Cooper Lyrock picked up the pitching win and posted a double offensively for PCHS.
Jaxon Dubose had two hits for the Tigers.
Pass faces Greene County this week in region play.
