Jamey Dubose, who won three state champions at two different schools in Alabama over the past 15 years, is expected to be named the new head football coach at Biloxi High School on Wednesday.
The school has set a 4 p.m., announcement ceremony at the school. Sources close to the situation Tuesday night agreed that Dubose was the choice.
Dubose comes to the Indians from Orange Beach High School, where he spent the past two seasons. He resigned from that post a month ago.
DuBose went 9-11 in two seasons with the Makos, including an 8-3 record and a playoff berth in 2022 but the team fell to 1-8 last season when OBHS only returned three starters from the prior season.
He led Prattville to a pair of state titles as head coach in both 2008 and 2011, and he guided Central-Phenix City to the 2018 Class 7A state title.
This will be Dubose’s first head coaching job in Mississippi, and third stop along the Gulf Coast after Orange Beach as well as a brief stint as an assistant coach at Alma Bryant some years back.
He has a career record of 166-56 in 18 years as a head coach, including a pair of seasons at Lowndes, Ga., where he came to Orange Beach from. He went 10-11 in two years at Susan Moore High, 45-10 with a pair of state titles in four years at Prattville, 16-8 in two years at Florence and 66-11 in six years at Central-Phenix City. At Lowndes, he went 20-5 and the Vikings won the region championship last in his fial season and advanced to the third round of the GHSA Class 7A Playoffs before falling to eventual state champion Collins Hill.

Orange Beach superintendent Randy Wilkes thanked DuBose for his time in a recent release Friday and said the search for a new coach will begin Monday.
“Orange Beach City Schools appreciates coach Jamey DuBose and his efforts. He has demonstrated and emphasized character above all else. He has worked closely with parents and has successfully mentored present and post students and colleagues. His drive and determination are extraordinary as is his knowledge of the game, organization of practice and ability to motivate. Coach DuBose is a winner. He will always be welcome on the Mako sideline and in our schools.”
Dubose is a graduate of Opp High and Troy University. He replaces Katlan French, who recently stepped down after six seasons at the helm of the Biloxi Indians with a 34-31 overall mark and playoff appearances in four out of the five past seasons. The Indians finished 6-6 overall last year after an opening round loss to eventual state champion Oak Grove in the first round of the Class 7A South State playoffs.
