HATTIESBURG — Seven senior standouts from the “Southern Six” will be on display in the final prep football game of their decorated careers Saturday as part of their home state team in the 37th annual Alabama/Mississippi All-Star Football Classic.
A trio of Picayune players, including a pair of Dandy Dozen selections in tailback Chris Davis and defensive end Jamonta Waller, anchor both sides of the line of scrimmage for the Magnolia State team that also includes Picayune linebacker Amari Tyson and lineman Tal Carter and Kai McClendon on the defensive unit as well as St. Martin wide receiver Noreel White and Bay High lineman Ziron “Dank” Brown on the offense.
“What a great honor, and we’re truly humbled by it, we’re going to do a great job to represent,” Mississippi head coach Judd Boswell of Clinton said, of the opportunity to lead the talented bunch. “Somebody in this game is going to be an NFL guy, multiple guys. We’ve coached some in this game that have come from Mississippi, of course coaching against the guys in Alabama that have the same as well. It’s just a huge rival, it’s one of the best all-star games, probably in the country.”
Also, a pair of head coaches from the Mississippi Gulf Coast will serve as assistants on Boswell’s staff as Pass Christian’s Jeff Stockstill will handle the offensive line and Moss Point’s John Feaster the defensive line.

Both teams arrived here in the Hub City on Monday and began practices on Tuesday in preparation for the game. The 37th-annual Mississippi/Alabama All-Star Game will be held at noon on Saturday, December 16 at M.M. Roberts Stadium on the campus of the University of Southern Mississippi. Alabama beat Mississippi last December at Mobile’s Hancock Whitney Stadium on the campus of the University of South Alabama 14-10. The series started in 1988 with Alabama winning three overtimes 24-21. The 36th game improved Alabama’s record to 25-11 overall.
