PASCAGOULA — After a bit of a sluggish start to the season under first-year head coach Lakeia Westerfield, the Pascagoula Lady Panthers suddenly find themselves sitting tied atop the Region 4-6A standings after two straight league wins.
Pascagoula roughed up visiting George County 37-13 Tuesday night to move to 2-0 in the region race and even its overall mark up at 4-4. The win sets up a showdown for first place in Region 4-6A Friday night as unbeaten and highly-regarded Hancock comes to Jackson County. Pascagoula, Hancock and West Harrison all stand 2-0.
The Lady Panthers used a 15-0 run early in the game against the Lady Rebels thanks to five points by Khyliyah Moore and take complete control of the contest and eventually went on to lead 28-9 mid-way through the third quarter.

Massyah Thomas paced Pascagoula with 14 points in the winning effort, including eight points in the third frame. Moore chipped in nine points for the Lady Panthers.
George County fell to 6-7 overall and 0-2 in the region.
The win over the Lady Rebels was the second straight impressive home league win for the Lady Panthers, as they were coming off a 50-26 victory to open loop action on Friday night. Thomas again led Pascagoula in that win with 14 points, and Moore added 13 points with all but one of them coming on a quartet of 3-pointers.
Long Beach stanout 5-foot-9 eigth grader Paityn Langley scored 14 poits to lead the Lady Bearcats. Langley was coming off a 14-point, five rebound performance in a 36-34 win over Pearl River Central earlier in the season.

Long Beach dropped to 0-2 in the league race Tuesday night with a hard-fought 34-29 loss to West Harrison. The Lady ‘Canes also moved to 2-0 in the league with that win.
West Harrison opened region play with a 50-33 win over Picayune on Friday. Sydnei Barber paced West Harrison in the win with 16 points and Jaylnn Applewhite added 13 points to the cause. Picayune got 13 points from freshman Laikyn Moore and nine points from Carleigh Gullotte while Rhyen Goss added eight points for the Lady Tide.

Picayune dropped to 0-2 in Region 4-6A action on Tuesday as Hancock remained unbeaten overall at 10-0 with a 72-32 thumping by the Lady Hawks.
Senior standout Brooklyn Cuevas, a William Carey signee, poured in a game-high 25 points to pace Hancock to the win, while Talana Bond chipped in 17 points and Cambria Necaise added nine points to the winning cause.
Laikyn Moore scored 13 points for Picayune, and Rhyen Goss added eight.
On Friday, while Hancock heads to Pascagoula, Picayune hosts Long Beach as well.
