Wednesday is National Signing Day for college football teams across the United States, and the “Southern Six” will have its share of signatures dotting the lines.
Quite a few senior standouts are expected to in scholarships with their selected teams during the all day long process on high school campuses throughout South Mississippi and beyond.
In Picayune, Dandy Dozen stalwarts Chris Davis and Jamonta Waller are set to put pen to paper. Davis, a tailback, is expected to sign with Stanford while Waller is expected to head to Auburn after decomitting from his first selection Florida recently. Both will sign at an 11 a.m., signing day ceremony in the high school library.
In Hancock County, a pair of linemen are set to sign scholarships. At St.Stanislaus, Jacob Bradford is set to sign with Louisiana Tech, and at Bay High Ziron “Dank” Brown is expected to also sign with Stanford.
At Gulfport, the Admirals are also set to send a pair of players on to the Divison I level. Quarterback Nico Williams is set to sign with Southeastern Louisiana to play both football and baseball, while standout defensive lineman kai McClendon is set to sign with Mississippi State.
In Moss Point, Signing Day got an early start on Monday as Tiger tailback Taboris Charles decided to continue his football career at Southeastern Louisiana also and become teammates with Williams in Hammond.
Also, in St. Martin, wide receiver Norell White is expected to sign with Ole Miss although he was committed earlier to Arkansas.

In Pascagoula on Wednesday, a pair of Panthers are set to go Division I as Dandy Dozen standout Jeffrey Rush will sign with Ole Miss and offensive lineman Tristen Fortenberry is headed to Tulane. Rush missed all of his senior season with an injury. The signing ceremony is set to take place at the field house at 10 a.m.
Also, a pair of former standouts in the “Southern Six” that played at East Mississippi Community College this past season will be moving on to the Division I level as well as Jayln Durgan from St. Martin and Harrison Central’s Jacobi Moore is headed to Appalachian State. Moore is a wide reciever.
Durgan, a 6-foot-4, 250-pound defensive tackle, totaled 35 tackles, seven tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks and a fumble recovery in 2023 for East Mississippi, which went 10-3 and reached the NJCAA championship game.
Also, quite a few seniors are inking deals with various junior colleges across the state of Mississippi and beyond on Wednesday as well.
