CAMDEN, Miss — A short break for Christmas hasn’t slowed the streaking Pascagoula boys basketball team down one bit.
And on Thursday afternoon, not only did the Panthers win their 14th straight game but gained some revenge for the only blemish on their impressive 14-1 record as well with a 53-42 win over Madison Central in second-day play here at the Madison County Christmas Tourney.
Pascagoula hasn’t lost another game so far since dropping a close 52-49 decision to that same Jaguars team to tip off the season in Madison on Nov. 11th.
On Thursday, Pascagoula wasted no time taking control in the long awaited rematch as the Panthers roared out to a 12-point, double-digit lead after the opening period at 21-9.
Kelan Rich, who scored seven of his 11 points in the first quarter on Wednesday, jumped out to a quick advantage again as he also had seven points including a 3-pointer in the opening period of latest win as well to get PHS off to a good start.
Dorian McMillan added five points in the second stanza, including a trey, as the Panthers went to halftime up 30-21.
The Jags closed the gap a bit as the third quarter unfolded, but McMillan helped the Panthers maintain the lead with seven more points in the period including another 3-pointer.
Leading 40-34 entering the fourth frame, Pascagoula got five points from Markeuse Grady and the Panthers turned up the defensive pressure outscoring MCHS 13-8 over the final eight minutes of play to pull out the 11-point win.

“It was a good team win in a hostile environment,” Wright said after the game. “It’s always great to find a way to win under pressure.”
McMillan paced Pascagoula with 17 points, while Rich chipped in 13 points to the winning cause. Grady had a game-high 10 rebounds and Chris North had six assists.
Wright is in his eighth year at the helm of the Panthers, and the 14-game win streak for the Panthers is the longest in Wright’s tenure.
“We’re just focused on going 1-0 each time out,” he added.
The win ensures Pascagoula a spot in Friday night’s championship game against Canton High, a team that is playing just as well as the Panthers so far this season and comes into Friday’s game with a 13-1 mark after a 69-55 win over Meridian in Thursday’s final semifinal game.
“It’s going to be a great battle,” Wright concluded.
