BILOXI — The Region 4-7A girls’ basketball standings continued to take shape Friday night as the league schedule hit the mid-way mark for most squads.
Biloxi took a home win, while both D’Iberville and Harrison Central picked up road wins as well.



In Biloxi, the home-standing Lady Indians thumped longtime arch-rival Gulfport 50-23. Biloxi simply over-powered the Lady Admirals throughout the contest, but especially during the first half when the Lady Indians led 21-2 at halftime after jumping out to a commanding 13-2 advantage after the opening period and then holding Gulfport scoreless in the second stanza.
Aaliyah Davidson celebrated her selection to the Mississippi North/South All-Star game on Thursday with an outstanding all-around performance the next day, as she tallied a game-high 15 points to go along with nine rebounds, nine steals and seven assists. Zaniya Johnson followed that with yet another double-double, as she posted a worksheet of 12 points and 13 rebounds plus four blocked shots. Kylie Caruso swiped four steals and Aubrey Hill, who was also selected to the same game as Davidson, added seven rebounds and three assists.
Biloxi moved to 19-2 overall on the season and remained atop the region race at a perfect 5-0. Gulfport stands 1-4 in the loop and is 4-14 overall.



Meanwhile, in D’Iberville, St. Martin git back on the winning track in league play with a 52-41 win over the home-standing Lady Warriors. The win moved the Lady Yellow Jacket to 3-2 in the region race after they opened league play with two straight wins before dropping their last two.
Sophomore standout Kaleah Lowery came up big again for St. Martin, as she tallied a game-high 19 points including 15 in the second half when the Lady Yellow Jackets sealed the win. Lowery posted a double-double as she added 10 rebounds and also had five assists and five steals on the night.
“I’m so proud of the effort from these young ladies,” SMHS second-year head coach Jason Kennedy said. ” We didn’t execute as well as I would have liked to but I’m pleased to be able to go into a hostile environment and come out with a win. We got off to a slow start tonight but we were able to get it going right before halftime and were able to make a big push in the 4th to seal the deal.”
Jay Robinson joined Lowery in double digits with 11 points in the win and she posted a double-double as well adding 11 rebounds while La’Dymeien Lafayette added eight points. St. Martin stands 3-2 in region play and sits in third place and is 15-5 overall.
Lay Lay Evans led D’Iberville with 11 points and Teeale Wells added 10 points for the Lady Warriors, which dropped to 2-3 in the loop and 9-9 overall.



And, in Ocean Springs Friday night, Harrison Central kept the home-standing Lady Greyhounds win-less in the region race with a commanding 72-31 decision.
The win pushed Harrison Central to 14-2 overall but more importantly 4-1 in the region race as HCHS held firm in the second spot behind Biloxi. Ocean Springs dropped to 0-5 in the league and 4-11 overall.
