The first time the Ocean Springs boys faced Gulfport in Region 4-7A action this season started the slide of the Greyhounds out of the league lead.
Ocean Springs hopes different results in the rematch mean a potential rise back to prominence in the region race over the next week.
Led by Elijah Isom and Brooks Saucier, home-standing OSHS earned a measure of revenge over the Admirals with a 71-59 win in league play Tuesday night.
The win leaves the Greyhounds in a deadlock with Biloxi at 6-2 in the region race with two league games left on the league schedule. Harrison Central sits atop the standings at 7-1.
The senior combo of Elijah Isom and Brooks Saucier came up big for OSHS as the squad celebrated “Senior Night” in the latest win, as Isom tallied a game-high 19 points and reached a career milestone in the win while Saucier drained a pair of key 3-pointers at a crucial point in the contest.

With Ocean Springs trailing by a point mid-way through the fourth period, Saucier drained back-to-back 3-pointers to give the Greyhounds a lead they would never relinquish.
Isom also had six points in that all-important fourth period, while Maddox Noblitt added a 3-pointer of his own and seven points as OSHS out-scored Gulfport 25-8 in the decisive frame.
Isom’s 19 points helped him eclipse the magical 1,000-point mark for the Greyhounds in his career. His backcourt partner Noblitt added 18 points to the winning effort, while Saucier chipped in 12 points and Christian Bingham added nine points to the winning effort. The Greyhounds now stand 16-5 overall, and face both Biloxi and Harrison Central on the road to wrap up the region portion of its schedule over the next six days.
Gulfport got 12 points from a trio of players in Morris Robertson, Arjae Robinson and Tavarus Brown in the loss while Amir Abdul Rauf added 11 points. In a 61-60 win by the Admirals in the first meeting between these two teams two weeks ago, Rauf poured in a game-high 35 points.
Gulfport falls to 2-6 in the loop and 7-15 overall.

Biloxi head coach Seber Windham has his team on the verge of its 15th 20-win season in his 20th season at the helm of his alma mater.

In Biloxi Tuesday night, the home-standing Indians gave head coach Seber Windham a career milestone as well with a 54-45 win over St. Martin.

The win allowed the Indians to remain in that tie for second place with OSHS in the loop, and pushed BHS to 17-6 overall as Windham became the school’s all-time winningest hoops coach.
Timaine Brumfield tallied 15 points Carlos Robinson added eight points for Biloxi.

The scrappy St. Martin bunch led by four points at halftime before Biloxi out-scored them by 13 in the second half to pull out the win.

The Yellow Jackets got a game-high 17 points from Jax Walker, and he also added four steals while Ty’Lah Whitlock added 10 points and seven rebounds as SMHS fell to 1-7 in the region race. and 4-19 overall.
Elsewhere in Region 4-7A boys’ play Tuesday night, league-leading Harrison Central went on the road and pulled out a 48-44 win over D’Iberville.
The win leaves the Red Rebels in first place in the league at 7-1, while the Warriors drop to 2-6 in the region race. The Red Rebels stand 16-8 overall and DHS is 8-16.
Harrison Central got a game-high 19 points from Aujaylen Barron in the win, while the Warriors got 15 points from Juan Santiago and 11 points from Devontae Carter in the loss.
