Both the Pass Christian boys and the Bay High girls secured spots in the upcoming Class 4A South State playoffs earlier this week with wins in Region 8-4A play.
The Pirates moved to a perfect 7-0 in the region race with a 57-34 win over visiting Bay High that secured a top-two seed in the league standings and the ensuing automatic berth in the state playoffs.
Meanwhile, in the first game of the night, the Lady Tigers slipped past the Lady Pirates 34-27 to secure the number one seed in the loop at 6-0 in the league standings.

In the boys’ game, L.J. Jaynes tallied a game-high 21 points to pace the Pirates to the win.
With Pass Christian ahead 22-7 at halftime, Jaynes exploded for 15 of his points in the third frame as the Pirates put the game away by doubling their output in the frame and out-scoring Bay High 22-6 in the period to pull into a commanding 44-13 lead heading into the final period.
Kyran Laneaux added 15 points for the Pass, including six in the second stanza that helped the Pirates take that 15-point lead into intermission.
Pass Christian stands 17-6 overall with the win.
Jaylen Antoine had eight points to lead Bay High, as the Tigers fell to 4-18 overall and 1-5 in the region race.
Both teams are back in league play on Friday night, as PCHS hosts Greene County in a battle for the top spot in the region race and Bay High travels to Arthur Haynes Gymnasium in Moss Point to face the home-standing Tigers.


In the first game of the night on Tuesday, Kayla Fricke paced the Lady Tigers with 12 points and a game-high eight rebounds in the winning effort and Nakeria Coleman added eight points as Bay High remained unbeaten in region play and secured the top seed with their second win of the season over the second pace Lady Pirates.
Tanyiah Lewis had four assists for the Lady Tigers as well, as the Lady Tigers moved to 19-5 overall and stand on the verge of a 20-win season.
Ariana Crim tallied a game-high 13 points for Pass Christian, as the Lady Pirates remained in the second spot in the league standing at 5-2 and now stand two games behind Bay. Pass is 11-11 overall.
Both girls teams are back in Region 8-4A action along it their male counterparts Friday night.
