A pair of Region 4-6A girls’ foes finished up the regular season with big wins at home Friday night.
In Pascagoula, the Lady Panthers held off arch-rival Moss Point 25-19 while in Gulfport home-standing West Harrison thumped Ocean Springs 66-40.
Both teams finished league-play sitting behind powerful Hancock in the league standings, as PHS took the second seed and WHHS the third seed. The Region 4-6A Tournament tips off Monday in Picayune.
In Pascagoula Friday night, it was a defensive battle all night long between the Lady Panthers and Lady Tigers. Kaylin Hyde scored six first half points and Khyliyah Moore added five points for Pascagoula as the Lady Panthers took a 17-5 lead into halftime.
Smaha Johnson and Massyah Thomas each added a 3-pointer apiece in the second half and PHS was able to stave off a Moss Point comeback attempt as the Lady Tigers got 10 points from Jordyn Ford in the second half including a 3-pointer in each of the third and fourth periods.

Moore led Pascagoula with seven points while Hyde finished with those six points. Ford tallied a game-high 11 points for MPHS.
The win gave Pascagoula 13-9 record under first-year head coach Lakia Westerfield, while Moss Point sits 12-16 overall under the direction of veteran head coach Ethan Porter. Both teams have already secured state playoff berths.

Elsewhere, at West Harrison High, the Lady “Canes finished off the regular season at an even 12-12 with their big 26-point win over the Lady Greyhounds.
Standout sophomore guard Sydnei Barber poured in 20 points in the second half alone en route to a career-high 30-point night to lead the way to the win. Her pair of 3-pointers in the second period, part of her 10-point first half, helped put WHHS up 27-17 at halftime.
Barber surpassed her entire first half point total in the third frame alone, tallying 11 points including another trey as the Lady ‘Canes began to pull away from OSHS.

Barber’s 30 points was a game-high, while Jaylenn Applewhite added 10 points and Miranda Parker nine points to the winning effort.
After a scoreless first period, Starr Jackson did her best to keep the Lady Greyhounds in the game as she tallied 23 points the rest of the way for OSHS.
Hancock finished at a perfect 10-0 in region play to take the top seed. Both Hancock and Pascagoula have secured berths in the upcoming Class 6A South State playoffs, while West Harrison must beat George County on Monday to do the same. The Lady Rebels will be the sixth seed in the tourney after finishing last in the league at 0-10.
