The St. Patrick girls made school history Friday night.
In two different sports.
Just a few hours after the SPHS soccer team won its second consecutive Class I girls state soccer championship in Madison, the basketball squad also went on the road and picked up a historical win beating home-standing Kemper County 46-42 in the second round of the Class 3A South State playoffs.
The victory moves the Lady Irish into the Class 3A South State Quarterfinal Tournament in Raymond next weekend. It marks the deepest playoff run for the SPHS girl’s basketball team in program history.


Senior standout Brooklyn Mitchell poured in a game-high 36 points for the Lady Irish, as they have reached new heights under first-year head coach Nick Mumme.
