PASCAGOULA — In the only scheduled meeting of the season between the longtime arch-rivals, Pascagoula used a 8-0 stretch to knock off Moss Point 14-5 Wednesday night.
The win evened the Panthers up at 2-2 on the season, while the Tigers remain winless at 0-4 in what has been a rather inauspicious start to the season for MPHS.
Both teams wasted no time in lighting up the scoreboard early, as each pushed two across two runs in the first frame.

Moss Point scored after Aiden Evans led off the game with a single on the first pitch and later scored on a wild pitch. The Tigers made it 2-0 when Brendon Waltman doubled and stole home a few batters later.
But the home team bounced right back, as Adrian Rosado scored on a wild pitch and Griffin Wells did the same a few batters later.
The Tigers took their second two-run lead of the game, as Evans reached on an error and Waltman cracked his second double in as many plate appearances to drive Evans home and make it 3-2. A few batters later, Waltman scored on a wild pitch to make it 4-2.
The Panthers scratched out a run in the bottom of the third to make it 3-2, before taking the lead for the first time with a three spot in the bottom of the fourth.

Braden Smith singled to lead off the inning and scored on a wild pitch two batters later that knotted things up at 4-4. The next batter, Dylan Melendez, grounded out to shortstop not only scoring Rosado to make it 5–4 but chasing Tiger starting pitcher Kevon Ford in the process.
Jarad Loper then singled home Wells to make it 6-4, and Sean Norvell followed that up with an RBI-single of his own to make it 7-4.
Ryan Earnest then replaced Panther starter Terry Lee on the mound to start the fifth frame, and held MP scoreless.

That would be a key, as the Panthers blew the game open in the bottom of the fifth, scoring four more runs to take a 10-4 lead with the big blow being a two-run double off the bat of Melendez.
The Panthers got RBI-singles from Tank Bishop and Rosado in the bottom of the sixth, and along with an assorted bunch of Moss Point miscues the Panthers extended the lead to 14-5.
Lee got the win and Ford took the loss. The Panthers got seven hits from seven separate players in the win. Waltman was the only player in the game with two hits for the Tigers.
Next up for PHS is a Saturday home game against Baker high of Mobile, Ala.., while Moss Point has a home game against Murphy of Mobile, Ala., Saturday.
The Tigers were coming off a 12-0 loss to Hattiesburg on Tuesday, their second loss to the Hub City Tigers in six days after dropping a 15-0 decision to the same team last Thursday. Moss Point’s other loss was a 15-1 defeat by Perry Central early last week as well.
