KILN — Hancock has gotten off to a pretty fast start a little over a week into the new baseball season.
The Hawks, under the direction of veteran head coach Anthony DeWitt, stand about as good as you can get after three games as they fly into Friday’s road game at Stone with a 3-0 mark.
Last week, Hancock swept a pair of games from longtime rival Pass Christian. The Hawks beat the Pirates 8-5 on the road and 5-1 at home.
In the first game, Landon Shields and Jaxson Knight each had an RBI-double, while Matthews Cuevas picked up the win.

Skylar Summerville had a game-high three hits for the Pass, while William Weatherly had two hits and. drove in a pair of runs also.
In the second game, Knight wielded the big stick at the plate for the Hawks with a three-run double. He also picked up the win in relief.

Mason Owens drove in the only Pirate run.
Tuesday night, Hancock handled Poplarvile 5-4 thanks to a three-run rally in the fifth frame.
It was a completely balanced attack for the Hawks offensively, as seven separate players had one hit apiece with Knight’s double the only extra base knock. Jeffery Hopgood, Brandon Arcement, Hunter Kuhn and Matthew Cuevas all drove in a run apiece for Hancock.
Brock Sheppard drove in all four runs for the home-standing Hornets with a pair of hits including a double.
Knight, fresh off his time as a starter on the HHS basketball team as well, picked up the pitching win with three frames of work in relief of the starter Cuevas.

Brandon Babiowski started and took the loss for PHS. The Hornets fell to 0-3 on the young campaign with the loss, after dropping a pair of games to Pearl River Central last week.
The Blue Devils won the first game of the two-game set on the road 5-1 to open the season for both squads. Isaias Ryan had a pair of hits including a triple for PRC and drove in a run, while J.J. Morealle drove in a pair of runs with a single.
Ryan also picked up the win.
Sheppard had two hits for the Hornets.

In game two, a 13-6 PRC win in Carriere, Dyess was the big man on campus collecting three hits including a home run and a double and driving in four runs. Ryan, Morealle and Jacob Johnson each drove in a pair of runs apiece in the winning effort.
Landon LaMartina picked up the win.
Emile Pace had three hits for Poplarville, while Chase Sones and Ty Keys added a pair of hits apiece and Braylon Magee drove in a pair of runs.
Poplarville is on the road at Richton Thursday night.

Pearl River Central suffered its first loss of the season over the weekend dropping a 6-3 decision to West Marion. Blake Glll had a pair of hits and drove in a pair of runs for the Blue Devils.
On Tuesday, PRC rebounded to move to 3-1 on the season with a 3-1 road win at St. Patrick.
Ryan had a pair of hits including a triple and drove in two runs for PRC, while the Blue Devils also got a double from Dyess.
Ryan also picked up the pitching win, while Cohen Weinhofer suffered the loss.
Trey Kopszywa and Ayden Lee each posted a double for the Fighting Irish in the defeat.
Both teams face off again Friday night in Carriere.
