GOODMAN — A pair of magical post-season runs for St. Patrick High basketball came to a halt Friday night.

The Lady Irish fell to Port Gibson 56-39 and then the Fighting Irish dr0pped a hard-fought 51-47 decision to Magee. Both games came in the Class 3A South State Quarterfinal round at Frank Branch Coliseum on the campus of Holmes Community College.

It marked the first appearance ever for the SPHS girls in the Elite Eight. The SPHS boys were trying to make their second appearance in three seasons at the overall Class 3A Final Four but came up just one step short.
