PASCAGOULA — The Resurrection Eagles have ruled the roost in Region 8-1A for most of the past seven seasons.
And, after the opening week of league play in the current campaign, the beat goes on.
Or, in Resurrection’s case, you could say “and the streak goes on…”.
The Eagles stretched their Region 8-1A win streak to 38 consecutive games with a 7-0 shutout win over visiting Lumberton Thursday night. It also marked Resurrection’s 42nd league win in its last 43 outings.
Head coach Aron Frederic’s crew, which demolished the Panthers 15-1 on Tuesday in Lumberton in what served as the region opener for both squads, now stands 8-2 overall and atop the region race after the first week at 2-0.
The league winning streak extended the longest such streak in the state for the two-time defending Class 1A state champions. The last league loss for the Eagles came just under seven years ago, on April 7, 2017 on the road at Stringer. Resurrection hasn’t lost a home game in Region 8-1A play in almost eight years, and has won 22 straight at home.

In the latest win, RCHs starting pitcher Carter McCammon didn’t need much help as he hurled a complete game, three hit shutout in the 7-0 decision. He struck out five and walked just one in the winning effort.
But McCammon got plenty of support at the plate as well, as Hayden Porter cranked out a two run home run and Justin San Miguel added a solo blast while McCammon helped his own cause out with a solo round-tripper of his own in the win.
Trace Tingle collected a game-high four hits including an RBI-double to pace RCS at the plate, while Porter had two hits and drove in a pair of runs. Bryce Brown added two hits to the winning cause, while Luke Schnoor had a run-scoring double as well.
