LYMAN — Home-standing Harrison Central finally got to play a game on its home field Wednesday night.
However, St. Martin proved to be a band of unfriendly guests.
The Yellow Jackets knocked off the Red Rebels 8-3 in the first-ever Region 4-7A action for both squads at the newly renovated HCHS baseball field. St. Martin moved to 6-8 overall with the decision, while Harrison Central fell to 5-10.
All 14 games prior to the Wednesday night game were on the road for the Red Rebels, either at the home of their opponents for that game or at a neutral site.
St. Martin took a quick lead it would never relinquish in the top of the first frame on RBI-singles from Lake Fincher and Garrett Dobson.

Despite never tying the game up, Harrison Central stayed close most of the night trailing just 2-1 after two innings and 4-3 heading into the sixth stanza after each team tallied a pair of runs apiece in the fifth frame.
Caleb Lawrence had a run-scoring single for SMHS in that inning, and Gabe Colon collected a two-run double accounting for the HCHS runs.
But that would be as close as the Red Rebels would get, as the Yellow Jackets steadily stretched their advantage by closing out the game with four more runs over the final two innings, including RBI-singles from Sean Stigletts and Gavin Nitcavic to seal the win.

Lawrence had two hits to pace SMHS at the plate. He also picked up the pitching win with four frames of work as the starter before Lincoln Hust finished the game up on the hill.
Tri Gaughf took the loss for HCHS. He also also had two doubles to lead the Red Rebels offensively. Colon and Jaxson Moore also had doubles.
The teams meet again Friday night in St. Martin.
Elsewhere, in other Region 4-7A play Wednesday night, Gulfport also got off to a good start in league play thanks to a one-hitter from a pair of pitchers as the Admirals look to get back to the state championship round with a 9-0 shutout of visiting D’Iberville.
Southeastern Louisiana signee Nico Williams started and threw the first four frames to pick up the win and Thomas Stennis went the rest of the way after that in combining on the one-shit shutout.

The Admirals used the log ball to wear down the Warriors, as Ole Miss signee Ethan Suroweic cracked a two-run home run and Davis Ormes smacked a three run round-tripper on the night. Elijia Barney added a run-scoring double as well for GHS in the winning effort.
Caleb West, one of four DHS pitchers, started and took the loss. He also provided the lone hit of the night for the Warriors, with a single in the top of the first.
Both teams are scheduled to meet again Friday night in D’Iberville.
