PASCAGOULA — Pass Christian picked the right time to start its first win streak of the season.
The Pirates won their third straight game Thursday night, including two consecutive in Region 8-4A play, thumping Moss Point 11-1 in five frames here at Tillman Field.
It was the second win for Pass Christian over the Tigers in two days after the Pirates took an 8-1 decision Wednesday night at home.
Leading 4-1 entering the fourth frame, PCHS basically ended the game with a seven run eruption to result in the final margin.

“It’s been fun to see the growth this team has made,” veteran PCHS head coach Ricky Smith said. “With five sophomores in the lineup, we’ve taken some lumps early but our kids are growing and our pitching is rounding into form at the right time. This team has been resilient and winning lately has given them confidence heading into the meat of our division schedule.”
With the win, PCHS moves to 3-11 on the season, after the Pirates dropped 11 straight games to open the current campaign. Pass Christian is 2-2 in the region race, while Moss Point is 0-2 in league play and now sits 2-12 overall.
The Tigers are playing all of their games on the road this season, after a tornado did extensive damage to their home field. They are playing most of their “home” region games in Pascagoula.
The Pirates jumped out to a quick lead that they would never relinquish Thursday night, as they tallied one run in the first frame and then struck for three more in the second stanza to take a 4-0 advantage.

Skylar Summerville had an RBI-single in the second inning uprising for PCHS.
In the big fouth frame for PCHS, the Pirates scored on several Tiger miscues plating runs on three passed balls, two errors and a wild pitch.
Thanks to the many Moss Point miscues, Pass Christian needed just five hits in the winning effort. Kayleb Munsch and Wesley Jolley each had a double for the Pirates. Munsch led the way with a game-high two RBIs, while L.J. Jaynes, Summerville, Evan Anderson, Stephen Tinsley and Mitchell all drove in a run apiece for PCHS.
Branden Necaise went the distance on the hill for PCHS to pick up the win, striking out an impressive 14 Tiger batters in just five frames of work. He scattered just four singles.
Kevon Ford scored the only run for the Tigers in the top of the second on a passed ball. He also took the loss on the hill.

Elsewhere in Region 8-4A action this week, Bay High split a pair of games with Poplarville with each squad winning on the road.
The Tigers won in Poplarville 3-1 Tuesday night while the Hornets bounced back and grabbed a 2-1 win in the Bay Thursday night.
Currently, Poplarville sits atop the region standings at 3-1, with PCHS and Bay High in the second spot each at 2-2. Greene County, who like Moss Point was last week is off this week, sits at 1-1 with the Tigers at 0-2.
