Picayune and West Harrison sit atop the Region 4-6A standings after the opening week of league play.
The Maroon Tide swept Pascagoula pretty handily in three games last week, while the Hawks did the same thing to Long Beach.
On Saturday, Picayune popped Pascagoula 10-2 to move to 3-0 in the region race.
Morgan Craft and Landon Watts each collected three hits apiece to pace Picayune at the plate. Watts had two doubles in his three hits, and he drove in a game-high three runs also. One of Craft’s hits was also a double and he drove in a run, while Cooper Moreaux added two hits and Landon Franklin added a pair of RBIs to the winning cause.



Colt Robertson, one of four Maroon Tide pitchers, picked up the pitching win for Picayune.
Adrian Rosado had. pair of hits for the Panthers. Griffin Wells took the loss.
After opening the series with an 11-1 road win on Tuesday night, the Maroon Tide returned home and took a 3-0 win on Friday behind a complete game one-hit shutout pitching performance from Tanner Busby. He struck out nine and walked just one in the masterpiece.
Meanwhile, Hancock finished up its third straight win over Long Beach Saturday with a 7-5 road win.
Jaxson Knight posted three hits for the Hawks, including a double, and he drove in two runs in the winning effort. Matt Cuevas also had three hits to share game-high honors with Knight, and Landon Shields drove in a game-high three runs. Jude Ulrich added two hits as did Brandon Arcement, with Arcement recording a double as well.

Gavin Necaise picked up the win for Hancock.
Will Brady has two hits for the Bearcats.
Landon Vancourt took the loss for Long Beach, as he and Noah Williams combined to allow 13 hits to the Hawks.
Hancock also picked up a 7-1 win on Tuesday and an 11-1 win on Friday.

Finally, West Harrison managed to salvage one game in its series with George County as the Hurricanes won 4-3 at home Saturday.
The big hits for West Harrison were a pair of two-run doubles, one each from Hunter Ross and Cameron Sandel.
Reese Parker picked up the win with just over six stanzas of work, and Dezi Curley earned a save.
Blaine Green had a game-high three hits for the Rebels, while Tripp Lightsey and Garret Dixon each added two hits apiece as George County out-hit the Hurricanes in the loss 8-5.
Carson Pierce took the loss.
The Rebels opened the series with a 7-0 win on the road Tuesday and then returned home to take a close 2-1 win to take the series two games to one.
