Poplarville leads Region 8-4A heading into play this week.
And the Hornets waste no time in getting back into league play as they travel to Gautier to meet Moss Point Monday night.
Poplarville sits atop the region race with a 3-1 mark two weeks into league play, after splitting two games with Bay High last week.
The Tigers won in Poplarville 3-1 Tuesday night while the Hornets bounced back and grabbed a 2-1 win in the Bay Thursday night.
Pass Christian, meanwhile, is coming off a sweep of Moss Point in region play last week. Currently, PCHS and Bay High each are tied up in the second spot in the region race at 2-2. Greene County and Moss Point each had an off week apiece in the first two weeks of league action and the Wildcats sit at 1-1 with the Tigers at 0-2.


Pass Christian travels to Leakesville to face off with Greene County Monday night as well.
The Pirates picked the right time to start its first win streak of the season.
After being swept by Poplarville to begin Region 8-4A play, Pass Christian won its third straight game Thursday night, including two consecutive in Region 8-4A play, thumping Moss Point 11-1 in five frames at Tillman Field in Pascagoula.
It was the second win for Pass Christian over the Tigers in two days after the Pirates took an 8-1 decision Wednesday night at home.


Leading 4-1 entering the fourth frame, PCHS basically ended the game with a seven run eruption to result in the final margin.
With the win, PCHS moves to 3-11 on the season, after the Pirates dropped 11 straight games to open the current campaign. Pass Christian is 2-2 in the region race, while Moss Point is 0-2 in league play and now sits 2-12 overall.
The Tigers are playing all of their games on the road this season, after a tornado did extensive damage to their home field. They are playing most of their “home” region games in Pascagoula.
The Pirates jumped out to a quick lead that they would never relinquish Thursday night, as they tallied one run in the first frame and then struck for three more in the second stanza to take a 4-0 advantage.
Skylar Summerville had an RBI-single in the second inning uprising for PCHS.
In the big fouth frame for PCHS, the Pirates scored on several Tiger miscues plating runs on three passed balls, two errors and a wild pitch.


Thanks to the many Moss Point miscues, Pass Christian needed just five hits in the winning effort. Kayleb Munsch and Wesley Jolley each had a double for the Pirates. Munsch led the way with a game-high two RBIs, while L.J. Jaynes, Summerville, Evan Anderson, Stephen Tinsley and Mitchell all drove in a run apiece for PCHS.
Branden Necaise went the distance on the hill for PCHS to pick up the win, striking out an impressive 14 Tiger batters in just five frames of work. He scattered just four singles.
