Ocean Springs stepped into sole possession of first place in Region 4-7A Tuesday night.
The Greyhounds went on the road and knocked off neighboring rival St. Martin 7-0. The win moved OSHS to a perfect 4-0 in league play, as it was coming off a three game sweep of Biloxi last week.
The Yellow Jackets dropped to 1-3 in the region race. St. Martin lost two of three games to Harrison Central in the opening week of league play.
Greyhound junior standout pitcher Jack Jordan produced his third straight masterpiece on the mound, as he hurled a complete game three-hit whitewashing of St. Martin striking out 10 and walking just one on his impressive worksheet.
St. Martin starting pitcher Caleb Lawrence matched Jordan on an even basis for the first four frames, as the game was still scoreless entering the fifth inning.

Ocean Springs standout junior pitcher Jack Jordan picked up another win Tuesday night.

It was in that stanza, however, when the Greyhounds busted the game open with a five run rally to take command of the contest. Maddox Moreland’s two-run single was the big blow in the uprising, while Jordan drove in a run with a sacrifice fly and Simon Kruppa added an RBI-single. Grant Russell drove in the last run of the inning.
Even with Jordan cruising on the hill, just for good measure OSHS added two more insurance runs in the next frame just for good measure including an RBI-double by the winning pitcher as well.
Kruppa and A.J. Arguello had two hits apiece to lead OSHS at the plate, while both Jordan and Moreland drove in a pair of runs apiece.
Noah Jenner had two of the three Yellow Jacket base bits.
The two teams head to Ocean Springs for a rematch Thursday night.

Biloxi senior Logan Fontenelle tossed a complete game in picking up the win over visiting Gulfport Tuesday night.

Elsewhere in Region 4-7A play on Tuesday night, Biloxi not only won its first league game of the season but in the process handed arch-rival Gulfport its first loss well with an exciting 1-0 decision.
And the Indians were no-hit in the win.
In what was an old fashioned pitching duel, Indians senior Logan Fontenelle out-drew Admiral senior Nico Williams in the classic contest.
Both aces went the distance on the hill, as Fontenelle scattered five hits and struck out nine in posting the shutout while Williams tossed a no-hitter and struck out seven.
But, the versatile senior standout multi-sports stalwart walked four, including two in the fateful sixth inning when Biloxi scored its only run as Tristan Haynes scored on a two-out passed ball for the only run of the game.
Haynes led the frame off with a walk off of Williams, a Southeastern Louisiana signee in football.
Ethan Garner had a game-high two hits for Gulfport, including a double.

The Admirals threatened in the top of the seventh, loading the bases with two outs. But Fontenelle came up with his final strike out of the night to seal the important win.
The teams will meet again Thursday night in Gulfport.
Also in Region 4-7A play this week, D’Iberville kicked off the week on Monday night with an exciting 11-10 win over Harrison Central in an eight inning slugfest.

Cannon Wilson drove in two runs to lead the Warriors at the plate. D’Iberville picked up its first win in the loop to move to 1-3, after getting swept by Gulfport last week.
Tri Gaughf had two hits and drove in two runs for the Red Rebels, as they moved to 2-2 in the region race. Trent Bond added a pair of hits, including a double as well while Zach Dorley drove in a game-high three runs with two hits as well as HCHS out-hit DHS 10-5 in the loss.
The two teams meet again in Lyman Thursday night.
