PASCAGOULA — Resurrection is one of the smallest high schools in the state of Mississippi.
But the Eagles baseball team is in the midst of one of the largest accomplishments ever on the diamond.
Resurrection stretched its Region 8-1A win streak to 42 consecutive games Wednesday with a doubleheader sweep of visiting East Marion in league play. The two-time defending Class 1A state champion Eagles stand 12-3 overall and 6-0 in the region race.
Head coach Aron Frederic’s squad knocked off the visiting Eagles 11-1 in six innings in the opener and 14-0 in just two innings in the nightcap.

The Eagles, which have won three straight Class 1A South State titles, have the longest league winning streak in the state. The last region loss for the Eagles came just under seven years ago, on April 7, 2017 on the road at Stringer. Resurrection hasn’t lost a home game in Region 8-1A play in almost eight years, and has won 25 straight at home.
Resurrection has its sights set on the seventh consecutive Region 8-1A title.
In the first game of the day, Resurrection broke open an early 1-1 tie with five runs in the bottom of the second to take control of the contest. The Eagles steadily stretched their advantage throughout the next four frames and ended the game early with two runs in the sixth after East Marion couldn’t manage to notch another run in the game.

Luke Schnoor had a game-high three hits and drove in a pair of runs in the win, while he, Hayden Porter and Trace Tingle all registered doubles for RCS. Tingle had two hits and drove in two runs, and Porter also drove in a pair of runs. Harris Hinkle also had two hits, and Justin San Miguel cracked a solo home run in the game-winning 11-hit attack.
Tingle picked up the pitching win with four frames of work.

In game two, the Eagles tallied four runs in the top of the first to take a quick lead and then added on nine runs in the second stanza to bring a halt to the proceedings.
Tingle had a double and a triple in the game, while Hinkle drove in a game-high three runs. Tingle and Porter had a pair of hits apiece, and one of Porter’s hits was also a double.
Carter McCammon got the win on the mound.
Resurrection aims to keep the historic region winning streak alive next Tuesday when it hosts Enterprise Lincoln in league play.
