It hasn’t taken long for the top three teams in Region 4-6A to float to the forefront of the league standings.
In fact, it took just two weeks.
Picayune, George County and Hancock all have risen above the other trio of league foes in the region race. The Maroon Tide sits in the top spot at a perfect 6-0 after completing a three game sweep of West Harrison on Saturday. The Rebels and Hawks both sit at 5-1 in league play, after George County completed a sweep of Long Beach on Saturday and Hancock took two of three from Pascagoula.

On Saturday in Lucedale, the Rebels completed that sweep of the Bearcats with a 10-2 thumping at Claude Passeau Field.
The long ball was flying high all day, as George County got a two-run home run from Garret Dixon and a two run round-tripper from Gage Reeves to overcome an early 2-0 deficit in the winning effort.
Colin Lyons gave Long Beach that early 2-0 lead on a two run home run of his own in the top of the fourth frame to open the scoring.
Reeves had a game-high three hits and those two RBIs to pace the Rebels at the plate, while Alex Wade added two hits and Ben Davis chipped in a two-run single to the game-winning 11-hit attack.
Carson Pierce started on the mound and threw five frames to earn the win, while striking out five and walking none.
Landon Van Court led Long Beach with a pair of hits in the loss, that kept the Bearcats winless in the region race at 0-6.
Noah Williams took the loss.

The two teams were coming off a 9-0 George County win in Long Beach on Thursday night.
Again, Gage Reeves carried the hot hand at the plate for the Rebels in the contest as he had a game-high three hits and drove in a run. Cayler Havard joined him with a game-high three hits as well as the Rebels banged out 16 hits in the winning effort.
Tripp Lightsey, Wade and Jacob Eubanks each had two hits apiece for GCHS, and Lightsey, Wade and Andrew Nielsen each posted a double. Blaine Green, Pierce, Lightsey and Eubanks all drove in a run each.
A trio of Rebel pitchers combined on a one-hit shutout, with Preston McAdory getting the start and the win with four frames of work while Gage Reeves and Canyon Reeves finished up on the hill.
Will Brady took the loss for the Bearcats.
George County now gets set to face league-leading Picayune in a three game series this week, while Long Beach faces Pascagoula.
