Harrison Central has staked its claim to the third spot in Region 4-7A after two weeks of league play.
The Red Rebels, who began the season with 13 straight road games due to renovation issues at their home field, have taken advantage of the new home field ability as well as played well on the road so far. Friday’s 6-5 win in D’Iberville over the Warriors moved Harrison Central to a solid 4-2 in the region race and left head coach Neil Frederic’s squad just a game out of second place behind Gulfport which sits 5-1.


In the latest win, Jaden Taylor had a game-high three hits for the Red Rebels, including a double, and he drove in two runs. Trenton Bond had a pair of hits for HCHS also, and Tre Hanshaw added a pair of RBIS to the winning effort as well.
Jaxson Moore tossed five frames on the mound to pick up the win, and Tri Gaughf came on to throw the final two innings to earn a save.
Dalton Davis had two hits including a solo home run for the Warriors, while Cannon Wilson added two hits including a double as well. Jaylen Johnson had a three run-double for D’Iberville also.
The Red Rebels actually led 6-0 after just two at bats, before The Warriors scored all of their runs in the bottom of the second and third innings to close out the scoring early. D’Iberville actually out-hit HCHS 10-7 in the loss.
Davis, one of a trio of DHS pitchers, took the loss.


The Warriors won game one of the series on Tuesday night at home 11-10 in eight innings. But the Red Rebels bounced back to take the final two games in the three game series including 10-7 at home Thursday night.
In that game, the Red Rebels hammered out 12 hits against a trio of Warrior hurlers in taking the win. Gabe Colon posted a game-high three hits, including a double, and drove in a run to pace the Red Rebs at the plate.
Bond, Taylor and Kaynen Beard each added a pair of hits apiece and two RBIs each to the winning effort, with one of Bond’s hits a double.
Bond started and worked just over five frames to pick up the win, while Hunter Gullett took over and finished up to get the save.


Trey Jacquet had a pair of hits and a pair of runs batted in for the Warriors, while Davis added two hits and an RBI also. Caleb West had a double for DHS.
Carter Naron took the loss.
Next up, Harrison Central faces league-leading Ocean Springs in a three game series this week, beginning Tuesday night in Ocean Springs. The Greyhounds sit atop the region race at a perfect 6-0.
D’Iberville meets second place Gulfport this week in a three game set. The Warriors are 1-5 in league play and tied with both Biloxi and St. Martin in the region race for the all important fourth and final seed.
