Two time defending Class 1A state champion Resurrection has won 42 straight Region 8-1A games.
That streak, which dates back seven years, includes wins over nine different league foes in that span.
But Tuesday night, the Eagles welcome in a new region opponent to Lee Tingle Field. And the latest member of the league may present RCS its toughest challenge to date.
Enterprise-Lincoln travels to Pascagoula for the second time in two seasons, but the first time as a member of Region 8-1A. The Yellow Jackets got relocated to the new loop after expansion by The Mississippi High School Activities Association before the current school year began.

Like RCS, Enterprise is 6-0 in the region race in the current campaign and has been pretty much running roughshod over league foes just as the Eagles have.
Resurrection has won 25 straight home region games as well, and the 42-game league winning streak its the longest in the state currently in any classification.
“The region is starting to take shape,” second-year RCS head coach Aron Frederic said. “We have Enterprise-Lincoln coming up who is in our district this year. We faced them in the playoffs last season. It was a good series. I expect the same this week.”
The Yellow Jackets faced the Eagles in the Class 1A South State semifinals last year, with RCS sweeping the series with a 6-2 win at home and a 7-4 decision on the road. It marked the first-ever meeting on the baseball diamond between the two teams.

Resurrection is coming off a doubleheader pounding of East Marion last week, winning 11-1 in six innings in the opener and 14-0 in just two innings in the nightcap.
The wins moved the Eagles to a solid 12-3 overall. Enterprise sits at 12-9, but is coming off a two game series sweep of Salem last week 16-4 and 10-2. The Yellow Jackets beat East Marion 12-0 and 20-0.
“For the season, our pitching has been good,” Frederic added. “They have thrown strikes and limited the free bases. The defense has played well behind them. Offensively, we are getting more consistency throughout the lineup, and being more selective at the plate has helped with that.”

This series will in all likelihood decide the top two seeds in Region 8-1A for the upcoming Class 1A South State playoffs. Resurrection has two games with Sacred Heart left to play in league action next week, while Enterprise faces Lumberton two times next week to wrap up region play.
The last region loss for the Eagles came just under seven years ago, on April 7, 2017 on the road at Stringer. Resurrection hasn’t lost a home game in Region 8-1A play in almost eight years, and has won 25 straight at home.
