Prep Baseball: Stone remains in first place in Region 4-5A while Hornets and Bulldogs earn wins also

Stone maintained its grip on the top spot in Region 4-5A by thumping Laurel 14-0 on the road Tuesday night.
The Tomcats moved to 7-0 in the region race with the four inning win, while the Golden Tornadoes drop to 0-5.
Baley Brogan, K.J. Galloway and Willie Breland each collected a triple in the win for the Tomcats while Anderson Hickman, Braxten Jones, Conner Tice and Brax Batson each posted a double also in the winning effort. Brogan and Daylan Collins each drove in a pair of runs apiece for Stone.
Hickman picked up the pitching win.
The two teams meet again in Wiggins Thursday night.

Also in Region 4-5A play Tuesday night, East Central beat visiting Gautier 6-3.
Nate Trochessett had a pair of hits and a pair of RBIs in the win for ECHS, which stopped a five game losing streak in the region race. Jaxson Cripps had two hits, including a double for ECHS while Christian McFaul also added two hits to the winning effort. Anthony Tanner added an RBI-double.
Matthew Tanner had two hits, including a double, for the Gators and Christopher Nelson had two hits as well. Frederick Nicholson and Ashton King drove in runs for Gautier.
Brody Long started and threw five frames for the Hornets to earn the win, while Gregory Johnson took the loss.
The Hornets moved to 2-5 in the region race, while GHS is 2-4. The two teams are slated to face off again in Gautier Thursday night.

Also, in Region 4-5A play Tuesday night in Waynesboro, Vancleave knocked off Wayne County 11-0 in five innings.
Martin Shaw ans Tyler West smacked home runs for the Bulldogs. West also had a triple for the Bulldogs in the win, while Asher Henley, Layton Eder and Robert Tinson each posted doubles for VHS. Henley, West and Hunter Parker each had two hits apiece in the inning effort, while West collected a game-high four RBIs.
Hunter Harper went the shortened distance on the mound to take the win.
It was the sixth straight region win for VHS, as it sits just behind Stone in the region race at 6-1. The War Eagles are now 2-4 in the loop.

The two teams are slated to meet again in Vancleave Friday night.
