Biloxi moved into sole possession of the fourth and final playoff spot for the first time this season in Region 4-7A play Saturday afternoon.
The Indians, which captured the Region 8-6A title last year, completed a three game sweep of neighboring rival D’Iberville with an 8-5 win over the Warriors. The decision moves Biloxi to 4-5 in the region race, and a game in front of upstart St. Martin which took two out of three games from previous league-leader Gulfport this week.
On Saturday, the Indians used a four run fourth frame to take control and then withstood a late rally by DHS to hold on for the win.
Tristan Haynes, Logan Fontenelle, Jackson Irvin and Connor Lofton each collected two hits apiece to pace BHS at the plate in the win, and one of Fontenelle’s hits was a home run as he accounted for three RBIs. Irvin drove in a pair of runs for the Indians also.

Carter Naron had a pair of hits for the Warriors, while Cannan West drove in two runs. Dalton Davis and Caleb West had a double each.
Shawn Miguel Gollott earned the pitching win for Biloxi, starting and working into the six stanza. Corbin Smith took the loss.
The Warriors hold down the cellar in the standings at 1-8.
On Friday night, Biloxi followed up a commanding 13-1 win on Tuesday night with an equally impressive 11-1 victory over DHS.
Haynes had three hits for the Indians, while Will Parker added a double and a pair of RBIS and Fontenelle and Judson Byars drove in two runs each as well.
Cannon Wilson had two hits for D’Iberville.
Will Miles went the six inning distance to pick up the win for BHS, while Naron took the loss.
The Indians are battling St. Martin for that all important fourth seed, and the two teams will meet in a three game series next week after the Yellow Jackets took two wins in two days over Gulfport.

St. Martin took the rubber match Saturday afternoon with an exciting 8-7 win over the Admirals.
Gavin Nitcavic, Lake Fincher, Caleb Lawrence and Sean Stigletts each had two hits apiece to lead the Yellow Jackets at the plate, with one of Nitcavic’s hits a double. Nitcavic and Fincher each drove in two runs each for SMHS.
Ethan Garner, Ethan Surowiec and Nico Williams each had a pair of hits apiece for Gulfport, with Garner, Surowiec and Williams collecting doubles. Williams had a game-high three RBI and Prince Cottonham drove in two runs.
Lincoln Hust got the pitching win while Cottonham tok the loss.
On Friday night, St. Martin bounced back from a tough 12-2 loss to Gulfport to open the series on Tuesday with a 3-0 shutout win in game two.
River Groue started and twirled a stellar six stanzas on the hill for the win, as he struck out nine and allowed just one hit. Lawrence worked the seventh and struck out two in registering a save.
Nitcavic and Conner Romero each had an RBI-single apiece in the winning effort for the Yellow Jackets.
Joel Smith took the loss for the Admirals.
Gulfport faces Harrison Central in a battle for second place next week, as the two teams each sit at 6-3 in the region race after the Red Rebels took two out of three games from league-leading Ocean Springs this week.
