George County made a a pair of big statements in two entirely different forms in Region 4-6A play over the past two days.
The Rebels bounced back after a loss to league-leading Picayune on Tuesday with a pair of wins over the Maroon Tide in a 24 hour span Friday night and Saturday afternoon.
George County slipped past Picayune 2-1 in eight innings in exciting fashion on Friday night before getting all the drama out of the way early on Saturday with a 10-0 win in just five frames. The pair of wins run the Rebels into a three-way tie for the top spot in the region race with Picayune and West Harrison as all three teams sit at 7-2.

On Friday night, Cayler Havard’s walk-off run scoring double provided the winning run with one out in the extra frame at Claude Passeau Field just as Picayune was on the verge of really taking control of the region race.
The game was scoreless until the bottom of the fourth, when Tripp Lightsey gave the Rebels a brief 1-0 lead with an RBI-single.
Picayune bounced back almost immediately when Parker Helton drove in a run with a ground out with one out in the top of the fifth to knot things back up and set the stage for the climactic ending.
Canyon Reeves picked up the pitching win with two innings of work in relief of Peyton McAdory.
Tanner Busby threw the first seven stanzas for the Maroon Tide scattering just four hits and striking out nine. Kyler King relieved in the extra session and suffered the loss after Blaine Green led off the eight with a double and Havard came up with his key blow.

Then, a quick turnaround saw the teams back at it again Saturday afternoon at Kent Kirkland Field in Picayune.
Perhaps feeding off of the momentum from the night before, George County jumped out to a quick 1-0 with a run in the top of the first frame and then put the game away with six runs in the third inning.
Ben Davis, Green and Gage Reeves each had a pair of hits apiece to pace the Rebels at the plate, while Jacob Eubanks added a double. Davis, Reeves and Eubanks all drove in two runs apiece in the winning effort.
Carson Pierce went the distance for the shortened complete game win limiting Picayune to just one hit in five frames.
Cooper Moreaux started and took the loss.
