HATTIESBURG — Pearl River Central hit a bump in the road on its path to the Region 3-6A championship Tuesday night.
Home-standing Hattiesburg rallied for a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth stanza to overcome a 2-1 deficit and pull out a 3-2 upset over the league-leading Blue Devils. The loss drops PRC to 8-2 in the region race with two games left in league play with the Tigers later this week.
Hattiesburg moved to 7-3 with the win, and sits just behind second place West Jones which is 7-2. The Mustangs had their game against last place Terry postponed due to weather issues Tuesday night.
Assuming West Jones sweeps Terry in three games this week, PRC now must beat Hattiesburg Thursday night at home and again Friday night back in the Hub City to secure yet another top seed in the region.

Hattiesburg has now won seven straight region games since getting swept by the Mustangs in league play a few weeks back.
Tuesday night the Tigers used two walks, two hit by pitches and a Blue Devil error to score those two runs and pull out the win and shake things up in the region race. A run-scoring sacrifice fly by Miles Prince provided the game-winning run with two outs.
Hattiesburg jumped out to a 1-0 lead on an RBI-double by Ramarion Wilson in the bottom of the third inning.
The Blue Devils bounced right back, though, scoring two runs in the fourth frame to take a 2-1 lead. Brayden Lee tied things up at 1-1 on a run-scoring double and then Kendall Morrison’s RBI-single made it 2-1 setting the stage for the climactic and decisive sixth stanza for the Tigers.

J. J. Morreale had a pair of hits to pace PRC at the plate in the loss.
Relief pitcher Talmadge Davis picked up the win on the mound for the Tigers, while Konner Casnave took the loss in relief of Roman Mitchell.
The two teams meet again Thursday night in Carriere in game two of the three game set.
