Ocean Springs retained its hold on the top spot in Region 4-7A Tuesday night.
And on the same night, Gulfport moved back into sole possession of the second spot in the region race.
In Ocean Springs, the Greyhounds moved to 8-2 in a the league standings with a 9-3 win over D’Iberville.
Ace pitcher Jack Jordan picked up yet another win on the mound, hurling six solid stanzas for OSHS.
Simon Kruppa led the Greyhounds at the plate with a game-high three hits in the game-winning 12-hit attack. He also drove in two runs with a double.
Jordan also helped himself out at the plate, with two hits including a double and he drove in a game-high three runs as well. Maddox Moreland also had a pair of hits and drove in two runs for OSHS, and Chris Fox added two hits also.



Trey Jacquet had a pair of hits to lead the Warriors. Carter Naron took the pitching loss.
The Warriors occupy the cellar in the league standings at 1-9 after the loss and are right on the verge of being out of the chase for the playoffs. One more loss in league play would end the postseason hopes for D’Iberville this year.
The two teams will meet again Friday night in D’Iberville before returning to Ocean Springs for a game Saturday afternoon.
In Lyman Tuesday night, the Admirals thumped visiting Harrison Central in a battle to stay one game behind the Greyhounds in the region race 15-4.



Gulfport smacked seven extra base hits in the win, as Nico Williams had a triple and a double while Elija Barney posted two doubles. Ethan Surowiec also collected a triple, while Davis Ormes and Javin Childres each had a double also. Ormes posted a game-high four RBIs, while Williams drove in a trio of runs and Joel Smith and Prince Cottonham had two RBIs apiece.
Williams tossed almost five frames to pick up the pitching win.
Trenton Bond and Gabe Colon each drove in a run apiece for the Red Rebels. Tri Gaughf started and tossed almost six stanzas and took the loss on the hill.
The two teams meet again in Gulfport on Friday night and then head back to Lyman Saturday afternoon.
Gulfport moved to 7-3 in the region race with the win, and moved a game ahead of the Red Rebels which dropped to 6-4 and sit one game ahead of Biloxi which is 5-5 and holds down the all-important fourth and final seed.
