Picayune kept pace with George County Tuesday night in Region 4-6A.
And the Maroon Tide did so at the expense of Hancock, which dropped back a spot in the process.
The Maroon Tide stormed back from an early 2-0 deficit to the Hawks to pull out a 9-5 win and move to 8-2 in the region race. Picayune sits at 8-2 in the loop, the same mark as GCHS, while Hancock fell to 7-3 after coming into the week tied up with the Rebels and Maroon Tide atop the league standings.
Picayune used a four run rally in the top of the second that included a three-run triple by Kyler King to storm back from the brief 2-0 Hancock lead and take a lead it would never relinquish.

Cooper Moreaux slapped a solo home run for the Maroon Tide, while King added an RBI-single also as he ended up with three hits and four RBIs which were both game-highs. Justin Stockstill had two hits and drove in two runs in the winning effort, while Landon Watts and Morgan Craft each posted a double.
Hunter Kuhn paced the Hawks at the plate with two RBIs.
King also picked up the win on the mound for Picayune, while Matthew Cuevas took the loss.
The same two teams face off again at Kent Kirkland Field in Picayune Friday night and then back in the Kiln on Saturday afternoon.
In other Region4-6A play Tuesday night, West Harrison kept its playoff hopes alive with a 4-2 win over last place Long Beach.
Tyler Glazzier had a game-high three hits to lead the Hurricanes at the plate win the win, while Carlos Pena added a run-scoring double. Maddox Jackson, Hunter Ross and Reece Parker drove in a un each for WHHS.
Landon Vancourt and Tobias Cuevas had two hits apiece in the loss for the Bearcats, while Will Brady drove in a run.

Landen Wallace earned the pitching win for WHHS, and VanCourt took the loss.
The same two teams meet again at West Harrison Friday night and then play back in Long Beach Saturday afternoon.
West Harrison moved into a tie for the fourth and final playoff spot with Pascagoula at 3-7 with the win. Long Beach, which was coming off its first region win, is now 1-9.
