VANCLEAVE — Saturday is known as “Moving Day” in the Master’s Golf Tournament, which is taking place this weekend in Augusta, Ga.
But for Vancleave, it will be known as “Separation Saturday” after the Bulldogs completed a three game sweep of Stone for a battle of supremacy atop the Region 4-5A standings.
Vancleave moved to an impressive 11-1 in the region race with its 11h straight league win knocking off the Tomcats 9-4. After taking wins in the first two games of the series, the Bulldogs jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead with a six run first inning to take quick command in search of the sweep.

Aidan Tapp had a two-run single as did Max Bates in the decisive first frame uprising for the Bulldogs, while the first two runs came on a Stone fielding miscue off of the bat of Layton Eder.
Hunter Parker later added a two-run single for VHS to return the lead to a half-dozen after Stone cut the lead to 6-2, and the Bulldogs cruised to the win.
Asher Henley had a pair of hits, including an RBI-single, for VHS while Bates and Martin Shaw had a pair of hits also in the win. Eder, Tapp, Parker and Bates all drove in a pair of runs each in the winning effort.
Conner Tice drove in a pair of runs for the Tomcats, while Daylon Collins had two hits for Stone also. K.J. Galloway collected a double.

Parker started and tossed four frames for VHS to pick up the pitching win, while Braxton Jones took the loss.
The Bulldogs need just one win over hapless Laurel next week to wrap up the region title and the top seed. Stone has secured the second seed and stands 9-3 in the region race.
On Friday night in Wiggins, Vancleave thumped the Tomcats 11-1 in just five frames.
Tapp had two hits and a game-high three RBIs, while Shaw had a pair of doubles and drove in two runs. Parker also added two hits to the winning effort.
Tyler West tossed the full five frame distance to pick up the win, while tice took the loss.
Baley brogan had two hits for the Tomcats.
Vancleave has won 11 straight region games since falling in its first league contest of the season to two-time and defending Class 5A state champion East Central a month ago.
