St. Stanislaus nipped Poplarville 6-5 Friday night as both teams get ready for the state playoffs next week.
The win for the Rock-A-Chaws completed a two game sweep in the home and home series in non region play, after a 15-9 win on the road in Poplarville Tuesday night.
On Friday night, Will Powell was hit by a pitch in the bottom of the seventh with two outs and the bases loaded to account for the game-winning run.
The Rocks trailed 5-4 entering the bottom of the seventh before tying the game up on an RBI-single by Wiley Mossy and setting the stage for the climactic finish.



Mossy paced SSC at the plate with a game-high three hits in the win, and he also drove in the walk off run. Brady Wallis added a two-run singles for the Rocks also.
Preston Smith had two hits and drove in two runs for the Hornets, while Braden Babiowski also had two hits including a double. Emile Pace also had two hits in the loss.
Gabe Podlin grabbed up the pitching win in relief, while Aiden Sith took the loss.
On Tuesday night, the Rocks used the long ball in picking up the big win as SSC hit three home runs in the 15-9 win.



Tate Murphy and Mossy each smacked solo home runs while Jeremy Mares cracked a two run home run to pace the Rocks at the plate. Mares had four hits and four RBIs, both game-highs, and Murphy chipped in three hits and a trio of runs batted in to the winning effort.
Ty Keys and Peyton Picasso had two hits each for the Hornets, while Brock Sheppard had two RBIs for PHS.
Sam Pike picked up the pitching win while Chase Sones took the loss.
The Rocks finished as the third seed in Region 8-3A, and will begin the Class 3A South State playoffs Friday on the road. St. Stanislaus is trying to march back into the Class 3A state finals for the second straight series, after falling to two-time and defending state champion Amory last season for all the marbles.
Poplarville finished as the second seed in Region 8-4A play and will open the Class 4A South State playoffs at home Friday night.
