Gulfport and Biloxi both completed three game sweeps on Saturday to set up a climactic final week of play in Region 4-7A.
The Admirals stayed one game behind with league-leading Ocean Springs with a 7-5 win over Harrison Central in that series finale. Gulfport sailed to 9-3 in the league with the loss, and has secured opening-round home-field advantage in the upcoming and first-ever Class 7A South State playoffs.
The Admirals used a three-run sixth stanza in Lyman on Saturday to break a 4-4 tie and pull out the win.
Ethan Garner, Javin Childres and Elija Barney each had two hits apiece in the win for the Admirals, while Barney, Childres, Ethan Surowiec and Joel Smith all collected doubles. Barney had a team-high two RBIs.
Gabe Colon,Tri Gaughf and Jaden Cooper each had two hits apiece for the Red Rebels, while Gaughf drove in two runs as well.
Thomas Stennis, one of a quartet of Gulfport pitchers, picked up the win and Tolar Rayburn earned a save.
Parrish Laiche, one of four Red Rebel hurlers, took the loss.



On Friday night in Gulfport, Gulfport captured a 15-0 win in just five frames over HCHS.
Ole Miss signee Surowiec had a game-high three hits, including a two run home run and a run-scoring double, and he also drove four RBIs while Davis Ormes had a game-high five RBIs on two hits. Garner chipped in three RBIs, including a two-run double, to the winning effort and both Prince Cottonham and Nico Williams added two hits apiece for the Admirals.
Smith picked up the win, as he Barney and Taveion Collier all combined on a one hit shutout in the shortened game.
Gulfport scored all 15 of its runs in the first three frames. Trenton Bond took the loss for HCHS.
Any team that can manage at least two wins when Gulfport faces Ocean Springs this week will get the top seed in the region and the other team will finish second.
Harrison Central dropped into the fourth spot in the region race at 7-5, one game behind Biloxi which moved to 7-5 in the loop after a 6-3 win over visiting Biloxi St. Martin to complete that series on Saturday.



The Indians got two hits, including a double, from Judson Byars and he also drove in a pair of runs in the win. Robbie Hokamp also drove in a pair of runs for Biloxi.
Shawn Miguel Gollott started and worked six stanzas to pick up the win on the hill, striking out three while walking just one and allowing five hits. Wyatt Pyron earned a save with a scoreless seventh.
Sean Stigletts had a pair of hits and drove in a run with a double for St. Martin. Caleb Lawrence took the pitching loss.
On Friday night in St. Martin, Biloxi got a complete game shutout pitching performance from Will Miles to take a 4-0 road win in game two of the series.
Miles scattered four singles and struck out four while walking just two in picking up the impressive win.
Hokamp had a two-run double for Biloxi, and Conner Lofton, Jackson Irvin and Tristan Haynes each had two hits apiece in the winning effort.
Cody Romero had half of the Yellow Jackets four hits, while River groue took the loss on the hill.
