Biloxi took a big step towards securing the third seed in Region 4-7A Tuesday night.
The home-standing Indians nipped Harrison Central 3-2 in eight innings to move two full games ahead of the Red Rebels in the region race. Biloxi sits at 8-5 in the loop while HCHS is 6-7 with two games left in the series left as the teams wrap up the regular season this week.
The game was tied at 2-2 entering the bottom of the eighth stanza Tuesday night and the Indians loaded up the bases with two outs. Chase Delaughter grounded a ball to second base but the Red Rebels couldn’t come up with it cleanly and courtesy runner Adam Rugg crossed the plate with the winning run.
Rugg was running for catcher Robbie Hokamp, who was the first Biloxi batter to reach base in the inning on a one out single.

The game was knotted up at 2-2 after three frames, and stayed that way until the one extra session.
The Indians managed just four hits in scratching out the win, with Will Parker’s RBI-double as the only extra base knock in the extra inning win. Delaughter had the only RBI for the Indians.
Harrison Central also tallied just four hits, with Tri Gaughf’s two singles a game high in the hit department. Jaxson Moore posted a double.
Wyatt Pyron worked almost four full frames in relief of starter Logan Fontenelle to pick up the win on the hill.
Gaughf was solid on the mound for HCSH, going the first seven stanzas and scattering three hits while striking out four. He gave way to Hunter Gullett in the extra frame, and Gullett suffered the loss.
Both teams meet again in Lyman on Friday night.
In other Region 4-7A action Tuesday night, first place Ocean Springs moved two full games ahead second place Gulfport with a 6-4 win over the home-standing Admirals at Herbert Wilson field. The Greyhounds need one more win to secure the top seed in the region race, just as Biloxi needs one more win over HCHS to secure the third seed.

In St. Martin Tuesday night, the home-standing Yellow Jackets slipped past long-time arch-rival D’Iberville 8-7 in a battle of teams already out of the state playoff chase.
Cameron Romero’s walk-off RBI-double in the bottom of the seventh capped a winning three run rally for St. Martin, as it overcame a 7-5 deficit entering the final at bat for the Yellow Jackets.
Caleb Lawrence posted two hits, including a double, and drove in a game-high three runs for SMHS in the win, while Romero and Noah Jenner also chipped in two hits apiece.
Caleb West, Trey Jacquet and Dalton Davis each had two hits apiece for the Warriors in the loss.
Lawrence also earned the pitching win while Carter Naron took the loss.
