Both St. Stanislaus and St. Patrick wasted little time in moving on in the Class 3A South State playoffs.
The Rock-A-Chaws and the Fighting Irish each dispatched their opening-round opponents in fast fashion, sweeping two games in an 18 hour span.
St. Stanislaus, the second seed in Region 8-3A, knocked off Jefferson Davis County at home 12-2 Friday night before heading to Bassfield Saturday afternoon and recording a 15-0 win to close it out. Both wins came in five frames.

On Friday night, in Bay St. Louis, Brady Wallis pitched five solid frames to pick up the complete game win, while his battery mate catcher Heith Shinn led the Rocks at the plate with two doubles and he drove in a game-high three RBIs. Third baseman Will Powell also contributed with two hits to lead the offensive attack for SSC in the winning effort including a double. Jeremy Mares also had two hits, including a double, and drove in two runs for the Rocks.
On the road Saturday afternoon, the Rocks scored six runs in the third frame and nine more in the fifth to end the series.
Chesley Rhodes carried the big stick on the day for SSC, as he blasted a home run and had three hits total and drove in a game-high four runs. Wallis also had a co-game-high three hits, including a triple, and drove in three runs while Powell also cracked a home run and drove in three runs for the Rocks. Tate Murphy chipped in two hits.
Mares picked up the win mound and Sam Pike finished up..

The Rocks will now face Southeast Lauderdale in the next round. Southeast Lauderdale swept South Pike in two straight games to advance.

For St. Patrick, the third seed in Region 8-3A, the Fighting Irish hit the road to Magee to open the state playoffs Friday night and pulled out an 8-1 win. St. Patrick enjoyed those results so much it returned home and duplicated the feat Saturday afternoon with yet another 8-1 win.
In game one, Austin Knapp had two hits, including a double, to pace SPHS, while he also drove in two runs. Cohen Weinhofer posted a run-scoring double in the win as well, while Trey Kopszywa also had a double.
Chandler Marsland picked up the complete game win for SPHS to ern the win.
On Saturday, in game two, Wienhofer was the key for SPHS as at the plate he registered two hits including a double and he drove in two runs. On the mound, he picked up the pitching win by hurling the first five frames and scattering three hits while allowing the one run and striking out 10 while walking five.
Ayden Le and Bennett Rimes also had two hits apiece in the winning effort, while Kopszwya had a double also.

The Irish will now face Franklin County in the next round. Franklin County swept Kemper County in two straight games to advance.
