A pair of prep baseball squads in the “Southern Six” can move on to the second round of state playoff action with wins on the road Monday night.
However, while one team has two chances to advance for the other this is do or die.
Both Resurrection and Pass Christian hit the highway for big games in opening round playoff action. For the Eagles, they head to Noxapater for game two in that best of three opening round Class 1A South State playoff series up 1-0 after a big 13-0 shutout win in just five frames Friday night in Pascagoula.
An RCS loss would mean a third and deciding game back in Pascagoula on Tuesday night.

In game one, both Justin San Miguel and Carter McCammon smacked home runs for the Eagles, as McCammon ended up with two hits and a game-high three RBIs while San Miguel drove in two runs. Hayden Porter also had a pair of hits and drove in two runs, while Trace Tingle added two RBIS and Michael Wayne Decoteau had two hits also in the game-winning 10-hit attack.
Tingle went the shortened distance on the mound, striking out seven and limiting NHS to just three hits.
Meanwhile, Pass Christian travels back to Richland Monday night for the second time in four days for the third and deciding game in that opening round Class 4A South State playoff series.
There has been two home shutouts recorded so far, as the Rangers took a 3-0 win on Friday night before the Pirates pulled out a 1-0 win behind the pitching of Brendan Necaise Saturday night.
Necaise struck out 13 batters and scattered just three hits in the impressive performance, as the Pirates kept their season alive.

“He was dominant from the first pitch all the way to the last,” Pass High head coach Ricky Smith said, of Necaise’s performance on the mound. “That’s what we needed out of him tonight. He’s a special kid, he’s a special player. Tonight it showed why. He gave us a phenomenal performance.”
The three hits he gave up were all singles, the first coming against the Rangers’ first hitter of the night. The second coming in the second inning, and the final hit coming in the fifth inning. But Necaise kept the Rangers off balance, not allowing them to capitalize.
The two pitchers the Pirates are looking to have on the mound on Monday are sophomore Wesley Jolley and senior Evan Anderson. Anderson took the tough luck loss in game one.
The survivor of this series moves on to face Purvis in the next round. The Tornadoes swept Quitman in two straight games wrapping it up with an Purvis 8-2 road win on Saturday after shutting out the Panthers 5-0 at home Friday night.
