Pearl River Central swept West Harrison to open the Class 6A South State playoffs over the weekend.
The Blue Devils, the Region 3-6A champs, made quick work of the fourth seed from Region 4-6A Hurricanes with an 11-1 win in Carriere Friday night before recording a 10-3 decision in Gulfport Saturday afternoon.


In Game one, J.J. Morreale delivered a two-run triple for the Blue Devils while Jacob Johnson had two hits including a double and drove in two runs as well. Riley Wilson also had two hits for PRC, while Blake Gill scored three runs in the win.
Jacob Johnson and Konnor Casnave combined on the mound for PRC to limit the Hurricanes to just four singles in the game. Johnson picked up the win.
Landen Wallace started on the hill for West Harrison and took the loss. Reece Parker drove in the only run for the Hurricanes.


On Saturday, it was just more of the same for the Blue Devils despite the change of scenery.
Kendall Morrison collected a triple and a double and drove in a pair of runs for PRC, while Morreale drove in a game-high four runs on a pair of hits. Wilson, Johnson and Sam Tuminello all posted two hits a piece in the 12-hit winning effort for PRC. Gill also drove in two runs.

Roman Mitchell, one of three Blue Devil pitchers, picked up the win.
Dezi Curley took the loss for the Hurricanes.
Tyler Gazzier, Carlos Pena and Reese Parker all drove in runs for West Harrison.
