Resurrection needs a win Monday night on the road to keep its quest for a third straight Class 1A state championship alive.

The Eagles returned home on Saturday night and powered their way to a 9-1 win over Ethel in game two of their Class 1A South State semifinal series to even the three game affair up at one game apiece. The Tigers took game one at home on Thursday 3-2.

Resurrection broke open a scoreless deadlock Saturday night with a six run uprising in the bottom of the fourth frame. Justin San Miguel’s three-run home run was the big blow in the rally and provided half of the runs in the eruption.

Luke Schnoor collected a game-high four hits in the winning effort for RCS, including a double, and he also drove in two runs. Trace Tingle added three hits, while San Miguel chipped in a pair of hits including that huge homer. Phillip Lauchassee also drove in two runs for RCS.

 Carter McCammon went the distance on the hill to chalk up the win, as he scattered four hits and struck out six.

On Thursday night, in game one, Ethel’s Collin White had Resurrection’s number most of the night as he allowed both runs but went six stanzas on the mound to pick up the win. He held the Eagles to their lowest run total in the past 27 games, since a 6-2 loss to Greene County to open the season.

The Tigers scored a run in the bottom of the seventh in the walk-off win.

San Miguel had two hits to pace the Eagles at the plate and Schnoor drove in two runs.

Porter took the pitching loss in relief of Tingle.
