PEARL — Both George County and Vancleave get started in the overall prep state baseball championships on Wednesday here at Trustmark Park in Pearl.
The Rebels are facing off with Warren Central in the Class 6A state title affair, while the Bulldogs take on Lafayette in Class 5A.
Both programs only have one state title trophy apiece in their school history, with Vancleave’s coming in 2018 and George County’s in 1997.
After both teams open play on Wednesday, each will get a day off on Thursday before resuming action on Friday at the same time.

Here is the complete state baseball championship schedule. For the first time in state history, seven state titles will be handed out this week.
