POPLARVILLE — After two solid seasons here at Pearl River Community College, former Resurrection standout J.T. Schnoor is headed for the Southeastern Conference.
Schnoor, a mainstay on Resurrection’s first-ever Class 1A state championship squad in 2022, signed with Mississippi State before his sophomore season with the Wildcats.
He then proceeded to show folks why Bulldogs head coach Chris Lemonis reached out to him about coming to Starkville, as he went 12-3 on the mound including two complete games and threw 71 2/3 innings and registered a 3.52 earned run average. He struck out 96 batters against 28 walks, and was named Second Team All-MACCC at season’s end. The number of wins was the most ever recorded by a PRCC pitcher.

“J.T. battled some injuries early in high school and was limited in what he could do,” his high school coach at RCS, Johnny Olsen said. “Once he got healthy he got better and stronger. Had a phenomenal senior year, which I knew he was going to have. Once his velocity picked up he started getting a lot of looks from big schools. I always thought he had the potential to play in the SEC. I’m real proud of him.”
During his senior season at RCS, Schnoor hit .323 with 31 hits and 36 RBI and was also dominant on the mound in the state title run. He finished the season 7-1 in 15 appearances with a 1.39 ERA, striking out 103 batters in 60.1 innings while walking just 26 and he hurled a pair of no-hitters.
He was ranked the 40th-best prospect in Mississippi by Perfect Game
As a freshman at PRCC, he made 13 appearances tossing 18 2/3 innings with a 3.86 ERA. He struck out 23 batters and walked just 12.

Schnoor made is final appearance with the Wildcats a memorable one, as he powered PRCC past Meridian 10-1 in an elimination game at the Region 23 Tournament.
The Wildcats, who finished the season an impressive 49-11 overall, rode a masterful mound performance from Schnoor to the big win as the future Mississippi State Bulldog was sensational, facing the minimum through the first four innings of play and giving up just two hits that were each erased by a double play.
With Schnoor still on cruise control as his team raced out to a 10-0 lead, Schnoor trotted back out to the hill and slammed the door with a punchout to secure the 10-1 victory. In doing so, Schnoor grabbed his program-record 12th victory of the year by scattering seven hits, one walk and one run. He struck out four batters.
“I’m proud of myself. From where I’ve come to this point, I’m proud of myself,” Schnoor said. “I think what stands out about Pearl River is the coaching staff. (Head) Coach (Michael) Avalon has been very instrumental at getting me where I am today and not only making me a great baseball player but a person as well. That’s really what he cares about more than baseball. He makes us better men by the time that we leave here. And our pitching coach (Brandon Pennington) has really helped me a ton in pitch development and the mental aspect of the game. Relationships and connections to people are really important.”
