BRANDON — After some of the top prep soccer standouts were on display Tuesday night, the action moves from the pitch inside to the gym Wednesday night as volleyball takes over.
The annual Mississippi Association of Coaches All-Star Volleyball match will take place here at Brandon High School at 6 p.m., and six “Southern Six” standouts will be in action for the South squad as it battles the North Team in the affair.
Our Lady Academy was the only area school able to bring home a state championship last season, and the Lady Crescents had a pair of players selected for the game. Kinsley Jean Stegall and Ava Davis of OLA will take the court for the South. Ocean Springs also had a pair of players selected for the prestigious contest as Lady Greyhounds Mary Carlton Descher and Carmela Coulter are in the line-up. Gulfport’s Lynde “Izzi” Barnes is ready to see action as well.
Hancock’s Anslee James was selected for the game, but is not expected to see any action due to an injury suffered during basketball season.

One of the coaches for the South squad is Emily Corley of OLA.
The annual affair is part of the Mississippi Association of Coaches Multi Sports Clinic which kicked off Monday.

On Tuesday night, also here at Brandon High School, sixteen “Southern Six’ soccer standouts were in action at the annual Randy West All-Star Soccer games.
The South won the girls game 2-0, and seven “Southern Six” stalwarts from seven separate schools were a part od the South squad as they knocked off the North Team.
Anna Catherine Thriffley represented state champion St. Patrick in the game, while Gulfport’s Chloe Brock and Nakiya Richardson of Biloxi were also in action as was Morgan Eleuterieus of Long Beach, St. Martin’s Cali Kirkbride, Bay High’s Lauren Feuerstien and Keiran Goodman of Ocean Springs.
The South girls were coached by Todd Siders of Sumrall.
The boys game followed the girls contest, and nine “Southern Six” standouts were members ofd the South squad.
Both Gulfport and Bay High hd a pair of players each in the game, as Christopher Dekle and Cooper Bruni represented the Admirals while Aiden Boudro and Sawyer Bilbo represented the state champion Tigers. St. Patrick’s Michael Baty, Trey Roche of Pass Christian, Zeke Searcy of East Central, Camden Hayes of Ocean Springs and Oren Doxey of St. Stanislaus all were a part of the game as well.
