BAY ST. LOUIS — Defending state champion Our Lady Academy appears in fine shape to defend it Class 3A title as the regular season begins to wind down.
The Lady Crescents moved to a perfect 7-0 in Region 8-3A play as well as an impressive 27-3 overall with a solid 3-0 sweep over arch-rival St. Patrick Wednesday night 25-16, 25-17,25-7.
The win marked the 13th in the past 14 matches for OLA, with the only blemish a 2-0 loss to Ocean Springs two weeks ago.



In the win over St. Patrick Wednesday night, Myah Favre led the way with 12 kills for OLA while Taylor Henley and Kaylin Kinninburgh added 10 kills apiece to the winning effort. Kinsley Stegall had four serving aces and 12 digs, while Ava Davis led the way in assists.
It marked the second win for OLA over SPHS in league play this season, the other being a 3-0 road sweep earlier in the season.
The Lady Crescents wrapped up their region schedule with a home 3-0 sweep over Tylertown Thursday night. Anna Kate Ivey had 10 serving aces for OLA while Davis had 19 assists.



That contest will mark the fourth league match for OLA in four consecutive nights this week, after sweeps over Perry Central on Monday on the road and West Marion at home on Tuesday.
In that win over West Marion, a 25-11, 25-10, 25-11 decision, Favre recorded 22 kills, Stegall had four aces and 15 digs while Davis again led in assists.
St. Patrick dropped to 15-8 overall but still holds down the second spot in the region race at 5-3 despite the setback in what marked the final league match of the season for the Lady Irish. The Lady Irish were coming off a 3-0 sweep at home over Perry Central in league play Tuesday night.



Some of the top performers for SPHS this season so far have been Ella Fontan, Emma Theobold, Stella Dobbins and Jordan Butcher.
St. Patrick is set to travel to St. Martin Monday night.
There are two weeks remaining in regular season play before the South State volleyball playoffs tip-off on Saturday, October 5th for Classes 1A-4A.
OLA is aiming for its third consecutive Class 3A state championship and its third in the past five seasons.
