Pass Christian — The Pass Christian Pirates (3-1) dazzled the Homecoming crowd with a 44-10 drubbing of the Saint Stanislaus Rock-A-Chaws Friday night at McDonald Stadium.

But, there was bright spot for the Rocks as Evan Noel kicked a Mississippi State record 61-yard field goal.

Pass Christian head coach Jeff Stockstill commented, “We had a really good week of practice this week preparing for a rivalry game. We played Saint Stanislaus last year and we knew they had a Division I kicker in Evan Noel. When he kicks off, we knew would struggle with field position. Our defense played with tremendous effort tonight limiting their opportunities. On offense Paris Trivillion stepped up and distributed the ball effectively and Jacquez Alexander-Dedeaux ran hard. We have to get back to work to prepare this week for Northeast Jones and the ride up there.”

Jacquez Alexander-Dedeaux led the Pirates with 12 carries for 158 yards and four touchdowns.

The Rocks (2-2) opened the game on offense and muffed the kick to start on the three yard line. They went for it on fourth down and turned the ball over on downs giving the Pirates the ball at the 13 yard line. 

Trivillion tossed a five-yard scoring pass to Lathan Lewis with 9:16 left in the first quarter. Jude Necaise converted the PAT to make the score 7-0.

The Pirates stuffed SSC after a Rock penalty  to take over near midfield following a Noel punt.

Trivillion ripped off a 33-yard carry before Alexander-Dedeaux capped the drive with a two-yard scoring run with 6:07 left in the first quarter. Necaise converted the PAT to go up 14-0.

Another strong defensive performance by the Pirates forced another Rock and the Pirates strung together a seven-play drive that culminated with a 30-yard scoring toss with 1:07 left in the first quarter. Necaise’s PAT was blocked by Andrew Whitney leaving the score 20-0.

The Pirates added insult to injury with another four-yard scoring run by Alexander-Dedeaux with 8:35 left in the half. Necaise’s PAT was good pushing the score to 27-0. 

The Rocks put together their best drive of the game going eight plays capped by a 25-yard scoring toss from Sam Grant to Adam Oliver with 3:19 left in the first half. Noel’s PAT was good making the halftime score 27-7.

The Pirates wasted little time finding the end zone in the second half. On their second possession of the half, Alexander-Dedeaux ripped off a 26-yard scoring run with 6:48 left in the third quarter. Necaise’s PAT made the score 34-7. 

Early in the fourth quarter, Alexander-Dedeaux scored from one yard out after gains of 21 and 58 with 11:40 left in the game. Necaise’s PAT missed leaving the score 40-7. 

With reserves in the game for the Pirates, Larkin Lewis sprinted 35 yards for a touchdown with 7:22 left in the fourth quarter. Necaise converted the PAT to make the score 47-7. 

Following the kickoff, the Rocks pushed the ball just past midfield. With 25 seconds left, the Rocks called timeout and sent Noel to the field. Christian Haas snapped the ball to Henry Nunmaker who placed the hold on the ball and Noel kissed the ball with right foot and 61 yards later the referees raised their hands for a successful kick to make the final score 47-10. The kick was a Mississippi state record 61-yard field goal.

Noel stated, “I have been wanting that for a long time. When the snap came back, all I wanted to do was kick it straight. Now, I can just kick and be consistent.”

Trivillion threw for 153 yards and two touchdowns on 10-for-18 passing for the Pirates. 

SSC head coach Tate Thigpen stated, “Our effort was very disappointing tonight. We gave up some long runs that were effort plays. We have to get back to the drawing board and get ready to play Mobile Christian. I was happy for Evan Noel tonight. He is one who works hard each day. He is a good example of what hard work does for you. He will be rewarded at the next level for it.”

Henry Nunmaker rushed 11 times for 42 yards to lead the Rocks. 

The Rocks will host Mobile Christian next Friday while Pass Christian travels to Northeast Jones.
