PASCAGOULA — There’s something about losing a senior standout defensive player that seems to ignite the Pascagoula offense.
For the second consecutive season, the Panthers overcame the news of the loss of a key defender to thump a long-time rival as Pascagoula dealt a 44-3 loss to visiting Biloxi in War Memorial Stadium Friday night.
The Panthers move to a solid 4-1 on the season for the second straight season as well, thanks to four home wins in the first five games. The Indians fall to 2-3 under the direction of first-year head coach Jamey Dubose.
In a win over D’Iberville last week, Pascagoula suffered a season-ending loss to senior standout linebacker and Louisiana Tech commit Jaylon Parnell for the rest of the season with a knee injury. Last season, the Panthers lost senior all-state defensive end Jeffrey Rush for the year with a similar injury just prior to a 31-0 season-opening win over Moss Point.

“We had a good night all the way around,” veteran PHS head coach Lewis Sims said. “We scored on offense, defense, and special teams. Tremendous focus and effort all night. Biloxi is a talented and well-coached team. We had some breaks that created some momentum and we’re able to capitalize on the opportunities.”
Pascagoula jumped all over Biloxi with a dominant performance on both sides of the ball in the first half and led 31-3 at the half and coasted to the win.
The Panthers wasted no time in taking a quick lead they would never relinquish as on the first offensive play from scrimmage Silas Corder hooked up with D’Lass Nunnery on a 62-yard scoring strike to make it 7-0.
On Biloxi’s first play after the ensuing kickoff, Pascagoula standout junior defensive back Tylan Wilson picked off a pass and returned it 23 yards to the Indian 31 yard line.
Six plays later, Corder found wide out Christian Campbell from 11-yards out. for another touchdown pass and the Panthers were up 14-0 less than three minutes into the game.

Biloxi place-kicker Brodie Vinson put the Indians on the scoreboard with a few minutes left in the first period with a 22-yard field goal to make it 14-3.
That would prove to be Biloxi’s only points of the first half, though as Pascagoula countered with 17 more in the second stanza.
Mason Kramer, who contributed in more ways than with his leg for the Panthers, stretched the lead back to 14 points with a 27-yard field goal of his own mid-way through the second stanza and the PHS lead was 17-3.
Then, just under four minutes later, Corder was back at it with a 51-yard scoring strike to Wilson and it was 24-3 with 2:43 left before halftime.

With just under a minute to play in the quarter, facing a fourth and long in their own territory, Kramer, who also handles punting duties for PHS, faked the kick and found Amarie Jackson all lone for a 69-yard touchdown toss and Kramer’s fourth point-after of the first half made it 31-3 at halftime.
Any hopes of a Biloxi second half comeback were quickly laid to rest mid-way through the third frame when Corder found Nunnery on a 35-yard scoring pass at the 5:45 mark of the third frame.
Then, two plays after the ensuing kickoff, Panther defensive back Tomareo Johnson picked off an Indian pass and raced 55-yards untouched for a touchdown on a “Pick Six” to extend the lead to 44-3.
The game was the 100th all-time meeting on the football field between the two teams. Coupled with a 27-7 win last season, it marked the first time in 13 years, since the 2010-2011 seasons, that PHS has won two consecutive games over BHS. The 44 points were the most for the Panthers against the Indians since 1995 win a 49-41 home win,
