KILN — For the second consecutive week, Vancleave would hit the road and dampen the spirits of a foe on their Homecoming Night.
Last week, Vancleave pulled off a 27-24 victory at George County and this week followed that win up with a dominant 35-17 win at Hancock Friday night.
The win was the third straight on the season for the Bulldogs as they moved above the .500 mark for the first time this season at 3-2 overall while The Hawks fall to 1-4.
After a scoreless first period, the first points of the contest would be earned by Vancleave’s Kyle Capers on a 20-yard scoring scamper with 7:25 remaining before the half to make it 7-0.
With just 01:06 before the half from the Hancock six yard line, Vancleave quarterback Wyatt Adams would roll out to the right on the bootleg, tuck the ball and find the end zone on the ground to put Vancleave up 14-0.

After Hancock’s ensuing possession was aided by several costly Vancleave penalties, Hancock would push the ball to the VHS four but settle for a 21-yard Sam Powell field goal on the last play before halftime to make it 14-3.
Hancock would capitalize on their first possession of the second half when Hawk quarterback Kaison Koenenn found wide out Julyan Santee for a 43-yard touchdown cutting. the deficit to 14-10.
However, a mere one minute and ten seconds later, Vancleave would respond right back as Adams found wide out Martin Shaw over the middle underneath the secondary and he bolted 79 yards for the score. to increase the lead to 21-10.
On the ensuing possession, Hancock would work the field down to the one-yard line as Koenenn kept for a short score to cut the deficit to 21-17 as the game entered the final period.

At the 10:29 mark of the fourth quarter, Vancleave’s Adams hit Shaw for the second time on the night, this time from 15 yards away, to make it 28-17.
Vancleave’s final score of the night would come on a three yard Hunter Harper run at the 03:30 mark of the final quarter. Bulldog placekicker Jordan Raynor’s fifth extra point of the night resulted in the final 35-17. count.
Adams completed 9 of 12 passes for 177 yards and the two scores and he added the touchdown on the ground also.Harper tallied 26 carries for 114 and a score. Shaw had three catches for just over 100 yards.
Koenenn completed 8 of 15 passes for 117 yards with a touchdown pass and a score on the ground.
