BILOXI — Suddenly, Resurrection has won two straight games.
The Eagles took a 14-0 lead early in the second half, and held off a late fourth quarter rally by home-standing St. Patrick Friday night to secure their second straight win on the season after starting the season with an 0-3 mark.
“Our defense was solid, and both teams played hard.” RCS head coach Eric Denmark said. “We made just enough plays to win it and were able to hang on at the end.”
The Eagles jumped out to that aforementioned two touchdown advantage thanks to an 11-yard scoring run by tailback Eric Fox in the first quarter to make it 7-0.

Then, with that same score, Jase Walker doubled the RCS lead in the third quarter on a 7-yard scoring run. Dillion Callahan was perfect on both extra point tries for RCS, which proved to be critical as the game played out.
The Fighting Irish valiantly fought back with two touchdowns, including the second one with eight seconds to play to cut the lead to the final one point margin.
On the extra point attempt, RCS jumped offsides to move the ball inside the two yard line on a half the distance to the goal penalty. At that point, St. Patrick decided to go for the win with a two point conversion, but Eagle senior defensive lineman Butter Summerlin broke through the line of scrimmage to thwart the effort with a tackle for a one yard loss.
On the ensuing kickoff, Resurrection’s Bryce Crosley chased the sky kick down inside the RCS five, and the Eagles ran one play to run the clock out and seal the win.

It marked the seventh straight loss over the past 11 years for St. Patrick to RCS. The Fighting Irish sit 0-5 on the season.
“It’s good to have two wins headed into district play,” Denmark added. “It certainly feels better to be 2-3 than 0-3. I have seen improvement on both sides of the ball so far and I’m proud of the kids. We’ll keep getting better each wek hopefully and see what happens in district action.
RCS returns home but this time to Pascagoula to host Salem for Homecoming at War Memorial Stadium next week to open Region 8-1A play, while St. Patricks kicks off Region 8-3A action with a trip to New Augusta to face Perry Central.
