D’IBERVILLE — For the first time in three years, and for the first time with head coach Josh Ladner in charge, D’Iberville heads into region play with a winning record.
The Warriors made quick work of visiting Wayne County Friday night in a dominant 35-7 win over the visiting War Eagles at Warrior Stadium. The win pushed DHS to 3-2 overall with three time region champion Ocean Springs headed to town next week in the Region 4-7A opener for both squads.
Sophomore quarterback Jordan Walley accounted for three touchdowns, one on the ground and two through the air, in the win for the Warriors as D’Iberville scored all of its points in the first half to put the game away early.

Andre Crosby got the hit parade rolling quickly for DHS, as he scored on a 2-yard run just over four minutes into the game and after Jorge Larga’s first of five extra points on the night the Warriors were up 7-0.
Things were just getting started for the Warriors, as Walley got into the act next on a 52-yard scoring scamper with 1:50 left in the opening period and it was 14-0.
Jeremiah Butler was next up on the scoreboard dance card for the home team, as his 2-yard scoring plunge made it 21-0 less than :20 seconds into the second stanza.

Walley then took to the air to complete the smack down throughout the rest of the first half, as he hooked up with Malakai Knight on a 34-yard scoring strike on a screen pass at the 7:15 mark of the period to push the DHS lead to 28-0 and then hit Keilan Stepter on a 30-yard touchdown toss to complete the scoring for the Warriors and make it 35-0 heading into halftime.

With a running clock throughout most of the second half, WCHS finally managed to get some points on the scoreboard with a touchdown in the third quarter.

Crosby led DHS on the ground with 100 yards rushing and the lone score.

The meeting was just the third all-time between the two teams as well as the third in the past four years, and D’Iberville is a perfect 3-0 in the all-time series.
The once mighty War Eagles, who won four state championships from 2002-2015 and played for five more during that span, sits 1-5 on the season. Wayne County opens Region 4-5A play next week hosting East Central.
