ELLISVILLE — Long Beach lost a double digit third quarter lead and fell on the road to home-standing South Jones Friday night 29-22 in overtime.
The Bearcats, coming off a 52-14 thumping from visiting Petal last week, fared much better on the road trip to visit the Braves as Long Beach jumped ahead 7-0 early and 14-8 at halftime. Long Beach then extended its advantage to 22-8 mid-way through the third frame before South Jones mounted its big comeback.

The Braves ended the game scoring 21 straight points, to eventually tie the game up at 22-22 late in the fourth quarter and then pull out the win by scoring their third straight touchdown to open the extra session and then holding Long Beach scoreless to secure the win.
The Braves moved to 4-2 overall with their second win over a “Southern Six” squad this season. South Jones also picked up a 35-33 road win over Pearl River Central in the second week of the season.
The Bearcats dropped to 2-4 on the season as they suffered their third straight loss, and will return home to host George County Friday night to open Region 4-6A play.
