ST. MARTIN — Biloxi handed first-year head coach Jamey Dubose his first Region 4-7A win Friday night.
The Indians cruised past home-standing St. Martin 30-14 to even their league record up at 1-1. Biloxi, now 3-4 overall, was coming off a 21-7 loss to arch-rival Gulfport to open the region race last week. The win also snapped a three game losing streak for the Indians.
The Yellow Jackets drop to 0-2 in the league standings and sit at 3-4 overall also.

Biloxi jumped out to a 14-0 halftime lead and then doubled that advantage to 28-0 in the third quarter and was never really threatened in earning the win.
At the 6:49 mark of the first period, Indian defensive back Jakaiden Smith picked off a Yellow Jacket pass at his own three yard line and returned it to the Biloxi 41.
On the next play, Biloxi tailback Jaylen Johnson sprinted 59-yards for the first score of the game to give the Indians a lead they would never relinquish at 7-0 mid-way through the opening period.
A little over 12 minutes later, Biloxi quarterback Wyatt Pyron connected with wide out Antonio Deere on a 45-yard scoring strike with 4:45 to play in the second stanza and Brodie Vinson’s extra point made it 14-0 at halftime.

The Indians wasted no time in adding to their advantage as the third frame unfolded, when Pyron went back to the air and found his other wide out Tristan Haynes on a 35-yard touchdown toss to make it 21-0 less than a minute into the second half.
It was Johnson’s turn again next as he covered five yards on a scoring run three minutes later on Biloxi’s next possession and suddenly the Indians were in total control of the contest at 28-0.
With a little over three minutes to play in the third period, St. Martin quarterback Cameron Romero threw a 25-yard scoring pass to Lleyton Wilson to put the Yellow Jackets on the scoreboard. Romero then kept for a two-point conversion and that made it 28-8.
Each team added a touchdown in the fourth period.

Romero hit tight end Winston Sherwood on a 45-yard screen pass to the Biloxi one-yard line at the five minute mark of the final quarter and Romero then covered that distance on a quarterback sneak on the next play to cut the deficit to 28-12.
Biloxi’s Kevin Cruso then fell on the ensuing on-side kick off from SMHS at his own 49.
Indian wingback William Lai then closed out the scoring with an eight-yard jet sweep with 3:58 to play on a scoring drive that was aided by a pair of major penalties by the Yellow Jackets.
The stout Indian defense limited St. Martin to just over 60 yards rushing in picking up the win. Johnson paced the Indians on the ground with 141 yards rushing and the two touchdowns.
