“We’ve got to have more “want to” than that,” Picayune head coach Cody Stogner said. “West Harrison wanted it more than we did. We got a wake-up call in the first half, and fortunately, we made a few big plays to change momentum but on Monday we’ve got to find a way to start getting better. We are fortunate to win, and that’s always a good thing but at times this was borderline embarrassing.”
Picayune senior standout tailback Darrell Smith continued his assault on opposing defenses as he ran for 253 yards on 13 carries and four total touchdowns.
Smith got things started with a career-best 98-yard scoring scamper and also added touchdown runs of 69-yards and 59-yards. He also caught a 39-yard scoring strike from Tide quarterback Brandon Parker.
